1. Welcome to Kudos Navigation System You have chosen a cutting-edge navigation system. Congratulations! You can navigate and plan your route with an easy-to-use and intuitive interface, just by using your finger. You can also use this application to plan your trip to suit your personal preferences and interests and to save interesting destinations before you set off on your journey. This manual leads you through the main features of the system.

The GPS is operated and controlled under the sole responsibility of the Government of the United States of America, who are responsible for its availability and accuracy. It may purposely reduce the accuracy of the GPS signals so that the car may swing. Any changes in GPS availability and accuracy, or in environmental conditions, may impact the operation of the navigation software.

2. Quick Start This chapter gives you a brief introduction of how to use Kudos Navigation System. 2.1 GPS Connection Your navigation device uses GPS technology for navigation. The device receives signals from a number of GPS satellites in order to determine your current position. Place your navigation device in a location with an unobstructed view to the sky to set up your first satellite connection. In the car this will usually mean mounting the unit on the lower part of the windscreen.
◎ Once the software has loaded you will be shown the map screen(picture 2.3), if you have got the valid GPS signal you will enter the Free Navi map screen and this is the starting point for all your navigating needs. In Free Navi Map, you could let system go without any operation and it tracks your driving route. For Free Navi Map icons and details please refer to Chapter 2.3. 2.3 Route& Free Navigation Maps Route/Free navigation map screen is the most frequently used screen of Kudos Navigation System. Free navigation map screen displays when you cold-start Kudos Navigation System, while Route Navigation Map displays when you continue last navigation when you restart the system. 2.4 Browsing the map When in Free Navigation or Route Navigation it is possible to browse the map so that you can look at parts of the map which are currently not shown. To move the map around use the stylus (if provided) or your finger to press and hold on a point on the map, then drag the map in the opposite direction you want to look at. E.g.
2.7 Keyboards Kudos Navigation System keyboard has smart keystroke function and enables only those keys on the keyboard that can lead to a valid entry. It greatly improves the search efficiency and user experience. You could input letters, numeric and punctuations. : tap and delete last letter you entered. : tap and return button to high-level screen. : confirm keyboard entry and selected record. :tap to change the keyboard type. 3. Selecting a destination – Go to? In order to navigate with Kudos Navigation System or to plan a route, you first of all have to enter a destination and then calculate a route. In “Navi Map” (Picture 3.1) tap “Main Menu” to enter “Navi Menu” (Picture 3.2), and then tap “Go to” to enter the “Search Menu” (Picture 3.3). Picture 3.1 Navi Map Picture 3.2 Navi Menu Picture 3.
3.1 Search destination by Address Searching destination by Address is one of the most commonly used methods for inputting a destination into the unit. In order to specify the destination, firstly enter city name or Postcode, and select the desired city; ◎ You could enter the name of the city, or the prefix, and the system will automatically list all cities matching the input letters. ◎ Tap the desired city and tap “OK” to confirm the city selection. The system returns to the “Address Search” screen (Picture 3.8) Picture 3.7 Choose City 5.
6. Enter the house number; ◎ After specifying the road, tap the field of “click here and search house number” to enter House No. Screen. Picture 3.11 Address Search ◎ Enter house number on keyboard and tap “OK” to return Address Search” screen. If the house number you entered does not exist, system will regard the first result as default position. Picture 3.12 Enter House No. 7. Tap “On map" to check the location of input address or directly tap “OK” and go to “Route Plan".
Options: after specify the road, then directly select the crossroad. ◎ In “Address Search” screen, tap the Crossroad input field and enter “Crossroad” screen. It displays a list of available crossroads along the “Cleveland Street”. Then select the desired crossroad and tap “On Map” to view the virtual road location. Picture 3.15 Crossroad Search ◎ You also could search the crossroad by entering the name or the prefix, and the system will automatically list all roads matching the searching criteria.
3.2.1 Search POI near Current Position Use this option to search for a POI from a particular category or for all categories around your current location as shown on the map (this will either be your current GPS position or the position where you last had a GPS lock). “POI near Current Position” displays 300 POIs at most around your current position from near to far. Please notice that: When GPS fixed, “current position” is the place where your vehicle locates.

Before you can search for a POI you will need to enter the name of the city you wish to search around. For example: Big Ben Wins minster, London 1. Tap “POI in City” in “POI Menu” screen; ◎ System will enter “City/Postcode” screen(Picture 3.19); ◎ Tap to enter Country list and select the desired Country. Picture 3.
2. Now select the POI category; ◎ Once you confirm POI category, then tap “OK” and enter “POI Search” screen. Picture 3.26 Select POI Category 3. Select a POI among results or enter the name of desired POI; ◎ In the “POI Search” screen, the system will automatically list POIs around the city default position. You could select the desired one or enter the name on keyboard. ◎ when the POI is specified, you could tap “On Map” to check the POI location. Picture 3.27 Search POI in City 4.
3.2.3 Search POI by Phone 1. Tap “POI Search by Phone” on “POI Menu” screen; ◎System will enter “Country Selection” screen(Picture P 3.31). Picture 3.30 POI Menu Screen 2. Enter Telephone number and select one POI in results. ◎System automatically displays the next numbers can be input. ◎Enter telephone on keyboard ,system automatically displays City Code and POIs near the default city center. 3.3 Select a destination in Recent Destinations This option allows you to select one of your recently used destinations and to use it again quickly. Tap Recent Destinations the screen will change to show the recent destinations screen and a list of any previously entered destinations. Kudos Navigation System saves 50 recent destinations at most so that you can access them quickly next time. 1. Tap “Recent Destination” on “Search Menu” screen; ◎ In the “Search Menu” screen (Picture 3.
3.4 Select a point on map as destination This option allows you to move around the map and to select a location which you want to use as your destination. Tap Point on Map the screen will change to show the map. The location of the map will either be your current/last known GPS position or the last position you viewed on the map. You can then browse the map and select a point you want to navigate to by placing the cursor. 1.
Picture 3.39 Set the place as destination 3.5 Search a destination by Coordinates This option allows you to enter the longitude and latitude co-ordinates of the location you are looking for. Tap Coordinates the screen will change to the coordinates entry screen. You can enter the co-ordinates in two different ways, Degrees; minutes; seconds (Picture 3.41) or as a Decimal (Picture 3.42). 1. Tap “Coordinates" on “Search Menu screen”; ◎ In the “Search Menu” screen (Picture 3.
3. Tap in the white boxes next to either Lon or Lat, and then use the keyboard to enter the co-ordinates you wish to navigate to, tap “OK". Note: For the Degree Format input, you should input “E” (East Longitude) or “W” (West Longitude), or “N” (North Latitude) or “S” (South Latitude) before inputting the numerical. In the Digital format, you should input “-” (West Longitude/South Latitude) before you input the digital number of the longitude or the latitude. 3.
3.7 Go home “Go home” is a very useful function as your home address will be the destination navigated to the most. In the “Search Menu” (Picture 4.2), select “ Home” and the system will automatically start navigating to the position of My Home. ◎If the place of My Home has not been specified, when you tap“Go Home”, the system will prompt as Picture 3. 46. 4. Route Plan Once you have entered your destination and confirmed it is correct, you will be taken to the Route Plan screen; from here you can begin navigating, carry out a simulation of the route or add additional waypoints to the journey. Kudos Navigation System enables to two waypoints during navigation. The system calculates a proposed route according to the sequence of the waypoints you specified, and guides you to the final destination. Picture 4.1 Route Plan 4.

Once the start point has been entered the unit will begin calculating the route and then start navigation automatically. 4.2 Route Options Kudos Navigation System offers you optimization settings of navigation. These settings are the basis parameters for calculating the route. ◎ Tap on “Route Plan” screen and enter “Route Options” screen(Picture 4.3). Picture 4.3 Route Options Kudos Navigation System enable user to select road type and routing style according to different navigation situations. The default setting is Fast car mode, Quickest Route and Prefer Motorway, Ferries and Toll.
4.3 Select Navigation Mode There are three navigation modes for Kudos Navigation System and their difference described as below: Route Navigation: real-time navigation among start, waypoint and destination when GPS position is present. Simulate Navigation: lifelike simulation of the routing among start, waypoint and destination. It enables you to check POI or route information along the route. Simulate mode is mostly used when no GPS position is present.
◎ After route calculation and when GPS position has been fixed, the system will begin navigating. ◎ Start navigation. Picture 4.
5. Navigation After selecting destination and planning route, the system calculates the optimized route and start navigation. All the information you need for driving is provided clearly and comprehensively in the Route Navi Map, please refer to Chapter 2.3. Meanwhile, you can set additional navigation settings or do other possible navigation operations on Route Navi Menu. ◎On “Route Navi Map” screen, Tap Main menu to enter Route Navi Menu. Picture 5.4 North Up Picture 5.5 Heading Up 2. 2D/3D: to switch the map between 2D and 3D style. “2D”: The map will be shown as if you were looking directly down onto your current position. The option with the tilt indicator is the currently selected option. “3D”: The map will be shown as if you were looking down at it from behind and above your current position. (When in 3D mode, the option for selecting North Up/Heading Up will be disabled and set to Heading Up only.) Picture 5.6 2D Map Picture 5.
4. Motorway Signpost: turn on/off the function to display Motorway signpost on map. When switched on this option does two things. Firstly when driving down major roads and motorways, it will show information about the approaching junctions. Secondly when you approach your junction the screen will change to clearly show that this is your junction. Picture 5.
5.2 Route Information Route information details the route in text format and contains useful information about the route you have planned on a new screen. As well as showing you your start and destination locations it will show you the distance between these two locations as planned by the unit and the estimated time it will take to drive the planned route. Included is a detailed turn by turn explanation of the route, which includes – the next street name, distance between turns and the turn type.
◎ In the “Route Navi Menu” screen, tap on “Detour” (Picture 6.3) to enter the “Detour” screen (Picture 5.13). ◎ Select the detour distance and the unit will then calculate a detour route; this new route can be viewed on the map as a blue line. Picture 5.12 Detour ◎ Tap to confirm the new route the unit will return to the navigation screen but will now direct you via the detour route.
5.7 Auto-routing With the consideration of driving safely, Kudos Navigation System provides the auto-routing function that works under two circumstances: ◎ Auto starting navigation: After setting up a destination, tap on “Go” in the “Route Plan” screen and Kudos Navigation System will automatically start the navigation. Below we will describe the procedure: 1. Proceed to the next step if GPS signals are received. Otherwise, wait for receiving GPS signals; 2.
6. Settings These are the main settings of the unit and allow you to set the unit up to suit your individual preferences, as well as entering address book entries, setting your home address or activating the trace record function. There are settings can be accessed from “Settings” screen in Menu or Route Navi Menu. : Highlight button means the language is selected. : Blue button means the language disabled. Picture 6.5Select Language_2 6.2 Safety Alert This lets you activate or deactivate the speed camera warning, when activated the unit will warn you of an approaching speed camera both visually and audibly while showing you the distance to the camera. When the option is shown with a blue tick indicator it is activated. Speeding Alert warn you when you exceed the local road speed limit.
6.3 Trace Record Kudos Navigation System logs all positioning information received from GPS receiver during navigation. It draws a trail of the track on map, which enables you to review the historic track information when you re-launch navigation system next time. This function is very useful when you drive in rural areas such as deserts or forests. ◎ By taping Taping , user switch on trace record function. , user close trace record function. ◎ All trace record will be displayed on screen.
Any previously entered address book entries will be shown as a list. Kudos Navigation System can save up to 100 Address/POIs. ◎ tap to enter “Search Menu” to search/add address/POI to Address Book. ◎ tap to delete one record in Address Book. 6.5 Day /Night Mode Kudos Navigation System provides manually or automatically adjust map color scheme to the different lightness of the day or night. ◎ When “Manually "turns on, you could switch map mode between Day and Night. Manually switch function disable automatic switch, vice versa. ◎ When “Automatic "turns on, you need to set daytime. Daytime could be set to start from “1:00AM-12:00AM" and end at “1:00PM-12:00PM". 7 Appendix 7.1 Attention It is not a system failure under circumstances listed below: Situations that can affect the GPS positioning: Sometimes, when you are driving on the highway, the floating point swings. When you are driving on a very steep road. When you are driving on a spiral road, you will find that the floating point swings. It is nothing to do with the radius of the road and the driving speed of your vehicle.
User Notice The floating point may swing before the GPS signal is received when you turn the power on. The floating point may swing when you use the system at the first time after installation. The system will automatically adjust its position and direction using GPS signals when the floating point mismatches real condition.
