The example above shows the default setting. The /D: switch indicates the drive name. It MUST be
the same name that you specify for the /D: switch of TXCS.SYS in your CONFIG.SYS file. The /M:
switch indicates how much memory to allocate for caching information on the CD-ROM. The default /M:4
caches 8KB.
For more information about the switches of MSCDEX, please type “help MSCDEX” at the DOS prompt.
5. Reboot your computer to activate the Portable Multimedia Kit.
6. If you select to use the CD-ROM with Sound, you will also have to install the Windows device driver
for Sound. Insert the Audio Application Software Disk #1 into a floppy drive, then start Windows and
run File Manager. Select the drive containing the Audio Application Software Disk#1. Find and
double-click file setup.exe. Follow the on-screen instructions and once you see the Audio
Applications Setup window, select the Custom Board Configuration button to set the proper Sound
I/O address, Interrupt (IRQ number) and DMA channel.
Note1: The Sound I/O address will always be the number of the I/O address you installed with 10 added
up. For example, if you set the I/O address at 220, then the Sound I/O address should be at
230. The Interrupt number is the same as the IRQ number you installed. The DMA should be
set at 0.
Note2: Due to the lack of DMA channel support in the PCMCIA structure, some of the DOS CD-ROM
titles will not play properly.
