Weatherproofing the AP3865e Connections
ExtremeNetworksrecommendsthatallconnectionsbetweentheAPandantennasare
weatherproofedusingoneofthefollowingweatherproofkits(notsupplied):
•WirelessWeatherproofingKits:
–3M(WK‐100)
–Scotch(WK‐101)
Eachweatherproofingkitincludes3/4inchvinyltape,2inchmastictape,and2inchvinyl
tape.
•ColdShrinkKits:
–3MColdShrink
SealingKitCXS(CXS‐4).
–3MColdShrinkEDPMConnectorInsulator(8426‐9M)
Thecoldshrinkkitincludesonetubeofvinylmastic,and2inchmastictape.
Weatherproofing the LAN1 and LAN2 glands
ExtremeNetworksrecommendsthatallglandsbetorquedproperlytoavoidAPfailuredueto
weatherdamageduetomoisture.Thefollowingguidelinesshouldbefollowedtoensureproper
installation:
•Boththeglandsmustbetorquedproperlyto10inch‐pounds.
• Careshouldbetakentoensurethatnoareasaroundthe
glandsareexposed.
Caution: Failure to torque your glands properly leads to corrosion by salt and ice-melt deposits.
Loosened glands will result in moisture damage and AP failure.
