Preface Terminology When features, functionality, or operation is specific to a switch family, such as ExtremeSwitching, the family name is used. 1 Extreme Location Beacons App Download the ExtremeLocation Beacons App Load the App Add a Beacon View Beacons Beacon Firmware ExtremeLocation uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons to provide locationing services to all the sites managed by your ExtremeLocation account. Use these BLE beacons to provide location based services like targetted advertisements, offers/coupons, surveys to enhance the user's experience of your offerings. BLE beacons provide accurate locationing of about 1-3 meters (3-9 feet).
Extreme Location Beacons App You must download the ExtremeLocation Beacons App from the Apple App Store™ to the Apple device that you are planning to use for adding the beacons to your ExtremeLocation account. You can use an iPhone or an iPad. Note For the purpose of this guide, it is assumed that you have already: • created your sites, floors, and categories. Note Refer to the ExtremeLocation Quick Start Guide for more information.
Extreme Location Beacons App Load the App Once installed, the ExtremeLocation Beacons App's icon is available in your Apple™ device's main screen.
Extreme Location Beacons App Select the icon named ExtremeBeacon Admin. from the main screen. The ExtremeLocation Beacons App is named If this is the first time you are accessing the app, its login screen displays.
Extreme Location Beacons App Figure 1: Login Screen Provide the user name and password for your account. These are the same credentials that you use for logging into your ExtremeLocation account using the web interface. After entering your credentials, select the Sign In button. If your credentials are already stored, you are directly taken to the app's main screen. By default, the ExtremeLocation Beacons App displays the Account screen that displays details about your user account.
Extreme Location Beacons App The Accounts screen displays the following information. Field Description Name Displays the name assigned to this user account. Username Displays the username for this admin account. Email Displays the Email account associated with this ExtremeLocation account. Company Displays the name of the organization as registered for this ExtremeLocation account.
Extreme Location Beacons App 1 From within the ExtremeLocation Beacons App, select the Add Beacons button from the toolbar at the bottom of the screen. The Add Beacons screen displays. This screen displays a list of all those beacons that are yet to be provisioned. 2 Select the beacon that you want to provision for this ExtremeLocation account. Important You must be located near the beacon that you want to provision.
Extreme Location Beacons App 3 Select the Add button located to the top right of the screen. This button also displays a numerical value of the number of beacons that are being provisioned together. The Choose a Site screen displays. This screen displays a list of all the sites configured for your ExtremeLocation account. Use the Beacon-less Sites button to filter the list of sites to show only those sites which do not have beacons assigned to them.
Extreme Location Beacons App 4 Tap the Site that you want to assign to the beacon or beacons. The screen refreshes to display the Categories configured for the selected site. The Choose a Zone screen displays. This screen displays a list of all the categories configured for your ExtremeLocation account. Use the Beacon-less Zones button to filter the list of categories to show only those which do not have beacons assigned to them. 5 Tap the Category that you want to assign to the beacon or beacons.
Extreme Location Beacons App Refer to the following table to know more about the fields in this screen: Note Extreme Networks recommends that you do not modify the beacon settings using the App. Beacons settings for this category are configured using the main web user interface and are optimized for this category. Modify these settings only if there is a specific requirement to change the default settings.
Extreme Location Beacons App Field Description Site and Zone This field displays the Site where this beacon is deployed and the Categories assigned to this beacon. Note: These settings cannot be modified from this screen. General The fields in this group set the various beacon related parameters. The following parameters can be configured: Advertisement Interval This field displays the current advertisement interval for this beacon. Tap this field to edit.
Extreme Location Beacons App Field Description Broadcast Mode The fields in this group configure the privacy settings of the beacon. When both the switches are off, the beacon is broadcast without encryption. Business Hours Private This field indicates the broadcast privacy settings. When off, the broadcast is unencrypted. Use the switch to set privacy mode on or off. Encrypted (v5) This field indicates the use of encrypted private beacon.
Extreme Location Beacons App 6 Select the Apply button located to the top right of the Beacon Settings screen to save the changes made to the fields on this screen and to add the beacon to your ExtremeLocation account. The beacon is added to your ExtremeLocation account and now is listed in the Beacon List screen. You can immediately start using this new beacon. View Beacons Use the Beacon List option to view a list of beacons that are provisioned for this ExtremeLocation account.
Extreme Location Beacons App 1 From within the ExtremeLocation Admin App, select the Beacon List button from the toolbar at the bottom of the screen. The Beacon List screen displays. 2 Select the beacon's entry in the list to show its settings. The Beacon Settings screen displays.

Extreme Location Beacons App 1 Use the Firmware option to view and update your beacon's firmware. Having the beacons updated with the latest firmware helps prevent any security and performance issues with respect to your beacons. The Firmware screen displays.
Extreme Location Beacons App 2 From the list on this screen, select the beacon that needs a firmware update and select the Update button located to the top right of the screen. The Admin App starts updating the firmware on the selected beacon. The following screen displays. Once the firmware is updated on the beacon, the screen displays the Firmware screen again.
