Read Me First

Note:

This product might contain an updated Real Time Clock (RTC) component, which is different

from the one used in previous hardware revisions of the product. There is no change in the

product functionality, however, due to the updated RTC component, there is a minimum

software requirement for the proper functioning of the product.

The hardware revision number of the affected products has been updated to reflect this change. For

each product in the affected product families the following hardware revisions and higher contain the

updated RTC component:

To determine the version of your product, check the label on the box or use the CLI command show

sys-info to check the H/W Revision field.

The minimum versions of software required for proper functioning of the product with the new RTC

component are as follows:

• 6.x software baseline – 6.1.6.0

• 7.x or later software baseline – 7.1.0.1

All other older software versions do not support the new RTC component.

Products with the new RTC component are already pre-installed with a software version (7.1.0.1)

that supports both the old and new RTC component versions. The factory-installed software on

products with the new RTC component automatically prevents activation of any unsupported version

of the software. It is recommended that you upgrade the product with the new RTC component to

the current latest version of software published on the Extreme Networks support portal.
