Minimum software requirements
Extreme Networks Virtual Services Platform 8600 is a next generation high performance and highly
scalable chassis based modular Ethernet switching platform that features four types of I/O and
control (IOC) modules and the 8600SF switch fabric (SF) module.
There is an update to the hardware (HW) revision of all the IOC modules due to an updated Real
Time Clock component (RTC) built into the IOC hardware. Revision 14 is the HW revision of the IOC
modules with the updated RTC component. There is no change to the Switch Fabric (SF) module
hardware. To determine the version of your product, check the label on the box or use the CLI
command show sys-info card to check the CardHWRevision field.
VSP 8600 switch software must be upgraded to the latest software version so that IOC modules
with HW revision 14 or higher can function properly. Refer to the following table for compatibility of
the IOC HW revision with the switch SW version.

8606CQ requires
minimum software
version 4.5.0.1.
The minimum version of software required for proper functioning of the product with the new RTC
component is 6.2.0.0. All other older software versions do not support the new RTC component.
This product might contain the new RTC component. Products with the new RTC component are
already pre-installed with a software version (6.2.0.0) that supports both the old and the new RTC
component versions.
The factory-installed software on products with the new RTC component automatically prevents
activation of any unsupported version of the software. Installing the product (IOC module) with the
new RTC component in a chassis already running an unsupported software version results in the
