Q. DOES THE IGNITER SPARK?
B. YES:
1. Iftheignitersparksbuttheunitfailstoameup,rstcheckthatyouareusingalkalinebatteries.If
thebatteriesareweaktheywillnotopen/holdopenthegassolenoid–thisresultsingasbeing
restricted from entering the burners.
2. If the heater contains brand new alkaline batteries and sparks, yet does not ignite, a faulty gas solenoid
valve may be present.
To test the gas solenoid:
Shut o unit and remove all gas supplies from the water heater. Remove the gas solenoid by removing
the 2x philips screws holding it in place on the gas assembly. With the gas solenoid removed, apply a
small amount of pressure on the valve (push the valve about 1/4 of the depth and it will drop into the
solenoid). Trip the igniter by running water through the system, or li the pressure plate o of the
microswitch.Withyoungerrestingonthesolenoidandtheigniterengaged,electricityshouldow
through the solenoid and pull the valve into the solenoid. If this does not happen, a new gas solenoidis
required.
3. Iftheignitersparks,theunitamesupbutextinguishesitselfin5-10seconds,afaultylimitswitch
may be present. In order to resolve, bypass the limit switch by completing the circuit between its two
wire connections. With that circuit completed before again attempting to run the water heater.
4. If the unit res and remains lit with the limit switch bypassed, order a new limit switch from our parts
