1. If the door pre-hung has brickmolds, remove the brick molds. Be careful when
removing the brickmolds since they will be reused later. Remove all nails from brick
molds.
2. Slide or snap on the sill extender to sill.*
3. Apply continuous bead of caulk around all 3 front sides of the jambs.
4. Attach jamb extenders using the galvanized finish nails at about 1” from the ends and
about 8”-10” spacing thereon. Make sure that the extender side with grooved lines are
in front and the rounded jamb edge is inside. The dadoed side of the side jambs should
mate with sill extender. *
5. Pre-drill holes at the bottom of lock and hinge jambs to match the sill extender’s screw
boss. Secure the jamb extenders to sill extender with #6 fine-thread screws.
6. If applicable, reapply brick molds to the jambs with galvanized finish nails near the
previous nail locations. The grooved lines which are marked 1/2” from the inside jamb
edge may be used to locate and align the brick molds to this line.
* For 2’-8” (32”) door, cut sill extender and header jamb extender to 32” inches.
