FRIENDLY LIGHTING

Turtle-friendly lighting aims to minimize the ecological impact that traditional lighting can have on turtles

and wildlife, especially near oceans and beaches. Sea turtles who come to the shore to lay eggs may get disoriented

by artificial light, which can keep them from nesting. For those that do nest, their hatchlings may be drawn toward

man-made lighting sources instead of the instinctively attractive starlight or moonlight reflecting off the water.

Generation Lighting offers a variety of fixtures specifically designed to prevent sea turtles from being

distracted by the light and coming inland. Multiple styles and finishes available to suit any application.

The referenced products listed here meet all the criteria for Wildlife Lighting and are approved when installed and used correctly to meet minimal lighting

standards. Per the FWC sea turtle lighting guidelines, approved wall mount fixtures must be downward directed with a maximum mounting height of 8 feet

from the floor. These luminaires are recommended for use in areas where artificial lighting is needed adjacent to ecologically sensitive areas, sea turtle

nesting beaches, migratory corridors, and Dark Sky Friendly communities.
