1. Installation instructions for the DNCI or DDPC 1.1 General instructions Warning Faults in the system structure and incorrect parameters can cause the piston to move to an end position uncushioned. The fixed stop or the drive may then be destroyed. You must observe the following instructions in order to prevent such damage. • Set up the system with great care. Always observe the safety instructions and information in this manual as well as in the system manual for type P.BE-SPC11-SYS... .

1. Installation instructions for the DNCI or DDPC 1.3 Notes on installing the pneumatic components Caution If the operating voltage is switched off while the compressed air supply is still switched on, the actuators may be triggered, resulting in unexpected movements which may cause damage. Switch off the operating voltage and the compressed air supply at the same time or in the following sequence: 1. compressed air supply 2.

Installation instructions for the DNCI or DDPC Compressed air tubing and screw connectors ( 4 ) See system manual type P.BE-SPC11-SYS... • Arrange the tubing between the valve (MPYE-5-...) and the drive (DNCI/DDPC) symmetrically. Recommendation: Tubing length = nominal stroke length + 50 mm • Cut the tubing and the connectors to the required length as shown in the following table: Horizontal or vertical mounting position Nominal stroke length in mm 1) Valve type MPYE-...

1. Installation instructions for the DNCI or DDPC Standard cylinder with incremental measuring system type DNCI or DDPC ( 6 ) Please note Use only permitted combinations of drives, valves, cylinder diameters, lengths and mass loads, see “Parameters for the DNCI or DDPC” in chapter 2. • Fit the drive horizontally. • Use fastening elements which will permanently resist the acceleration forces. • Avoid installing restrictors in the supply line.
1. Installation instructions for the DNCI or DDPC Coupling ( 7 ) If a coupling is required between the piston rod and the guide: • Check the play of the coupling. The following applies here: Coupling play ≤ 0.05 mm • Set the play of the coupling accordingly. Please note If the coupling play is too large, it may not be possible to carry out the teach procedure successfully.
1. Installation instructions for the DNCI or DDPC Mass load ( 8 ) • Mount the mass load so that it is free of play. Warning Lateral loads produce incorrect measured results and can even damage the measuring system. • Use an external guide for the work load in order to prevent transverse loadings on the piston rod. For possible moveable mass loads, see chapter 2. The tables listed there contain all the combinations of drives, valves and mass loads permitted for operation with the SPC11 type SPC11-INC-...
1. Installation instructions for the DNCI or DDPC 1.4 Instructions on commissioning Caution Incorrectly set parameters result in a deterioration in positioning behaviour and cause malfunctioning. • Be very careful when setting the parameters. • Set the offset axis zero point (r) and the nominal stroke length (L) precisely to the millimeter. For good positioning behaviour, the SPC11 must know the exact positioning range used by the drive.
1. Installation instructions for the DNCI or DDPC After adjusting the fixed stop for P.01: 1. Ascertain the new offset axis zero point. 2. Correct the parameter (r) on the SPC11 (see system manual type P.BE-SPC11-SYS...). 3. Carry out the teach procedure again, as is usual after adjusting fixed stops. Festo P.

2. Parameters of the SPC11 for the DNCI or DDPC 2.2 Setting parameters A, C and S Warning Incorrectly set parameters can damage the fixed stops and the drive. • Be very careful when setting the parameters. • Always select the amplification and cushioning stages for the maximum mass load. In case of doubt, set first the amplification and cushioning stages for the larger mass load. The positioning times specified in section 2.
2. Parameters of the SPC11 for the DNCI or DDPC The following diagram explains the tables: DNCI-32-80 to ...
2. Parameters of the SPC11 for the DNCI or DDPC The parameters listed in the following tables match exactly the specified combinations of valves, drives with corresponding stroke length, mass loads and mounting positions. Please note Faultless operation can only be guaranteed if all components are fitted correctly. • Use only the specified combinations of valves, drives and mass loads. • Observe the installation instructions in chapter 1 as well as in the system manual.
