MUST BE READ! REFUELLING K Petrol engines: only refuel with unleaded petrol with octane rating (RON) not less than 95. Diesel engines: only refuel with diesel fuel conforming to the European specification EN590. Using other products or mixtures may damage the engine beyond repair and cause the forfeiture of the warranty cover for caused damages as a consequence.
ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES If, after buying the car, you decide to add electrical accessories (that will gradually drain the battery), visit a Fiat Dealership. They can calculate the overall electrical requirement and check that the car’s electric system can support the required load. CODE card Keep the code card in a safe place, not in the car. You should always keep the electronic code written on the CODE card with you in case you need to carry out an emergency start-up procedure.

❒ To clean the belts, wash by hand with neutral soap, rinse and leave to dry in the shade. Never use strong detergents, bleach or dyes or other chemical substance that might weaken the fibres; ❒ Prevent the reels from getting wet: their correct operation is only guaranteed if water does not get inside; ❒ Replace the seat belt when showing significant wear or cut signs. According to 2003/20/EC Directive, this prescription is compulsory for all European Community countries.
DASHBOARD AND CONTROLS SAFETY DEVICES DEVICES Over 1.50 m in height from the point of view of restraint systems, children are considered as adults and wear the seat belts normally. All restraint devices must bear the certification data, together with the control brand, on a solidly fixed label which must absolutely never be removed. Lineaccessori Fiat offers seats for each weight group. These seats are the recommended choice, as they have been designed and experimented specifically for Fiat cars.
DASHBOARD AND CONTROLS GROUP 0 and 0+ Babies up to 13 kg must be carried facing backwards on a cradle seat, which, supporting the head, does not induce stress on the neck in the event of sharp deceleration. F0I0022m GROUP 1 WARNING WARNING Figures are indicative for assembly only. The seat should be installed following the instructions that must accompany it. Seats exist which are suitable for covering weight groups 0 and 1 with a rear connection and their own belts to restrain the child.
DASHBOARD AND CONTROLS GROUP 2 CORRECT USE OF THE CAR SAFETY DEVICES DEVICES Starting from 15 kg to 25 kg in weight, children may be restrained directly by the car belts. The only function of the seat is to position the child correctly in relation to the belts, so that the diagonal part adheres to the chest and not to the neck and that the horizontal part clings to the child’s pelvis and not the abdomen.
Fiat Punto complies with the new Directive 2000/3/EC regulating child’s seat assembling on the different car seats according to the following tables: Central rear passenger (with reel) Central rear passenger (lap) up to 13 kg U U U (*) Group 1 9 - 18 kg U U U (*) Group 2 15 - 25 kg U U U (*) Group 3 22 - 36 kg U U U (*) Group 0, 0+ Key: U = suitable for child restraint systems of the “Universal” category, according to European Standard ECE-R44 for the specified “Groups”.
DASHBOARD AND CONTROLS SAFETY DEVICES CORRECT USE OF THE CAR WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES ❒ Only one child is to be strapped to each retaining system. ❒ The recommended position for installing child’s seat is on the rear seat, as it is the most protected in the case of a crash. ❒ Always check the seat belts do not fit around the child’s throat. ❒ If the passenger’s air bag is deactivated always check the warning light F on the cluster to make sure that it has actually been deactivated.
DASHBOARD AND CONTROLS SAFETY DEVICES CORRECT USE OF THE CAR In case of crash, a person not wearing the seat belt moves forward and may come into contact with the cushion while it is still inflating. Under this circumstance the protection offered by the air bag is reduced. WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES Front air bags are designed to protect car’s occupants in front crashes and therefore non-activation in other types of collisions (side collisions, rear shunts, rollovers, etc.) is not a system malfunction.
DASHBOARD AND CONTROLS ❒ in collisions against highly deformable objects not affecting the vehicle front surface (e.g. bumper collision against guard rail, etc.); as it offers no additional protection compared with the seat belts, consequently, it would be pointless. Therefore, failure to come into action in the above circumstances does not mean that the system is not working properly.
DASHBOARD AND CONTROLS DRIVER’S FRONT AIR BAG It consists of an instant-inflating cushion contained in a special recess in the centre of the steering wheel. It consists of an instant-inflating cushion contained in a special recess in the dashboard; its volume is bigger than the driver’s one. DASHBOARD AND CONTROLS MANUALLY DEACTIVATING PASSENGER’S FRONT AIR BAG (where required) INDEX TECHNICAL CAR SPECIFICATIONS MAINTENANCE IN AN EMERGENCY WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES CORRECT USE OF THE CAR SAFETY DEVICES Should it be absolutely necessary to carry a child on the front seat, the passenger’s air bag on the car can be deactivated. 152 Deactivation/reactivation takes place with ignition key at STOP and operating it in the special key switch on the right-hand side of the dashboard.
DASHBOARD AND CONTROLS SIDE AIR BAGS (Side bag Front Window bag) (where provided) They are composed by two types of instant inflation and are housed in the back rest of the front seats. The task of the side air bags is to increase protection of the occupants’ chest in the event of a side crash of medium-high severity.
DASHBOARD AND CONTROLS SAFETY DEVICES IMPORTANT The front air bags and/or side bags may be deployed if the car is subject to heavy knocks or accidents involving the underbody area, such as for example violent shocks, against steps, kerbs or low obstacles, falling of the car in big holes or sags in the road. IMPORTANT When the airbag inflates it emits a small amount of dusts.
DASHBOARD AND CONTROLS SAFETY DEVICES CORRECT USE OF THE CAR All control, repair and replacement operations concerning the air bags must only be carried out c/o Fiat Dealership. WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES IMPORTANT The triggering of pretensioners, front air bags and front and rear side bags is decided in a differentiated manner by the electronic control unit, depending on the type of crash. The failure to deploy one or more of them does not mean that the system is not working properly.
WARNING Do not cover the back rest of front seats with trims or covers there are not set for the use of side bags. WARNING Never travel with objects on your lap, in front of your chest or with a pipe, pencil, etc. between your lips. Injury may result in the event of the air bag being triggered.
DASHBOARD AND CONTROLS If the car has been stolen or an attempt to steal it has been made, if it has been subjected to vandals or floods, have the air bag system checked by Fiat Dealership. WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES Remember that with the key engaged and in the MAR position, even with the engine not running, the air bags may be triggered on a stationary vehicle if it is bumped by another moving car. Therefore, never seat children on the front seat even when the vehicle is stationary.
DASHBOARD AND CONTROLS The front air bag is triggered for shocks greater in magnitude than the pretensioners. For impacts between these two thresholds, it is therefore normal that only the pretensioners are triggered. WARNING Do not hook rigid objects to the coat hooks and to the support handles.

The main causes of corrosion are the following: ❒ atmospheric pollution; ❒ salty air and humidity (coastal areas, or hot humid climates); ❒ seasonal environment conditions.
Normal paint maintenance consists in washing at intervals depending on the conditions and environment of use. For example, in highly polluted areas, or if the roads are sprayed with salt, it is wise to wash the car more frequently.
