1 • GETTING STARTED Viewing the Face ID User Manual in the Internet The Face ID User Manual is available in the package when you purchased the FingerTec® Face ID. The User Manual is also available online at fingertec.com and user.fingertec. com. Choose the language that you prefer for your User Manual. 2 • Basics Introduction to Face ID Introducing Face ID 2, the latest biometrics product, face recognition technology product combined with fingerprint technology. Face ID 2 can identify an identity in split seconds without any contact or hassle. Face ID 2 only requires user to look at the macine to get verification.
Main Menu Item What Is It For Touch Screen Panel Touch this screen to access into Face ID system and do configuration. Shortcut Keys Customize the function keys for easy access to certain functions. Infrared Lights Enhance facial image in poorly lighted areas. Twin Face Camera Capture face images in few directions. Fingerprint Scanner Use to scan finger for confirmation of identity. Card Induction Area Read the card information based on the card system of Face ID.
Power On/Off Button USB Keyboard Auto Test Calibration Bell Transfer data to and from Face ID 2 using a USB flash disk. Define shortcut function keys according to your company’s preferences. Use the power on/off button to turn Face ID on or off. You can disable the button to avoid accidental shut off of Face ID. Refer to page 18, Chapter 5: System- Power Key for details. Run tests to Face ID to diagnose the terminal on various aspects.
Keyboard Battery Face ID operates using power supply from a standard power outlet. Internal battery The internal battery is provided as a separate accessory and it can last up to 5 hours. Use the onscreen QWERTY keyboard to type in alphabet and number inputs into Face ID. Mini UPS 12V can also be used to provide power supply to Face ID. Adjust Volume Default volume of Face ID voice is 60. The volume can go as high as 100 and as low as 0. To sustain the performance of speaker in Face ID, it’s recommended to stay at range 6070. To adjust the volume Press Menu > System > General > Volume 1:100 > Set your number > Save. Security Features Security features help protect the information from Face ID from being accessed by others. Admin Affirm Cleaning Face ID To clean Face ID, please turn off Face ID and unplug all the cables.
3• Connection - Syncing Face ID Installations and Communications 1 USB Port Linking with USB flash disk for remote data transfer. At the rear of Face ID, there are 6 connections available for power and communications. 2 TCP/IP Port Connecting with CAT 5 cable for LAN connection, one end to this port and another to the computer’s TCP/IP Port. TCP/IP for Single Connection – Linking Face ID to a single computer using TCP/IP requires Ethernet 10/100Base-T Crossover Cable.
TCP/IP for Network Connection – Linking Face ID to multiple computers using TCP/IP requires Ethernet 10/100Base-T Straight Thru Cable or “whips”. The cable works with both 10Base-T and 100Base-TX, connecting a network interface card to a hub or RS485 Single Connection - Connection to a single computer using RS485 wire.
Ingress Online Activation Ingress is a genuine software by FingerTec. Every FingerTec access control model comes bundled with a unique license key. To start using the terminal with Ingress, you must connect the terminal to Ingress and perform online activation. Ingress reads the serial number of your terminal and sends it for verification at the FingerTec server via Internet. In case you do not have an Internet connection, you would need to do offline activation.
4• User Enrolling User Face ID can contain up to 700 face images and 3000 fingerprint templates, 10,000 card users. This section covers user enrollment for face, fingerprint, card and password. 1. Face Enrollment is important to locate the center points of the finger because the center points has to be placed in the middle of the scanner during enrollment to get a good reading. You also have to make sure that the fingers are not too wet or too dry for enrollment.
Verifying User Verification Method What Is It For 1:1 (One to One) You have to identify your User ID before inputting any biometrics feature for verification. For example, your user ID is 1008 and you use Face verification. One to one method requires you to key in user ID followed by your face to get verified. 1:1 – 1:1 requires input of User ID before Face ID reads and verifies.
· Recommended to use index finger. Face ID accepts other fingers but index is the most convenient. · Make sure the finger is not wet, too dry, injured or dirty · Do not press hard on the sensor, just place it comfortably · Avoid direct sunlight or bright light Password Verification Password can be an option for those who do not prefer to use other verification methods. To verify using password, press 1:1/1:N > insert User ID and press key button > insert password and press OK.
5• SYSTEM General Settings Adjusting Date/Time Face ID is a terminal to record time attendance and door access activities of employees. Precision in time and date cannot be compromised for the system to work efficiently. Adjust Date/Time according to your time zone. Press Menu > System icon > General > Date/Time > Select Value >Save Date Format Date format can differ based on countries for example in Malaysia, date-month-year while in America month comes first.
Style of Display Advertise your products or corporate message on Face ID during idle period. Clock Display: Half of the screen displays advertisement and the other half displays the clock. Always Display: The toolbar always showing at the bottom of the screen. Auto Hide: The toolbar is hidden and reappear when you touch the soft touch panel.
Setting Threshold Threshold is a level of fingerprint scanner’s sensitivity. Threshold determines how many percent of minutiae points on a fingerprint template being read by the system. The higher the threshold level, more points are being read, more restricted the system. Configure the threshold for 1:1 and 1:N methods. For 1:1, the range is from 15-50 and the recommended value is 35. For 1:N, the range is from 5-50 and the recommended value is 45.
For 1:1, the range is from 0-99 and the recommended value is 60. For 1:N, the range is from 0-99 and the recommended value is 75. Menu > System icon > Face > 1:1 Threshold/1:N Threshold > Input your value > Save Camera Exposure/Contrast You can adjust the light exposure level of infrared cameras in Face ID. Improper value to the settings could affect the performance of the camera. The recommended value is 320.
Menu > System icon > Log Settings> Workcode Mode > Choose your preference > Save. To add work code through Face ID, please refer to page 21. Records Using Card Only Face ID allows combination of verification methods to achieve tighter security. This feature concentrates on card verification. You can enable or disable Card Only feature by choosing Y or N. Y – Face ID only reads information from card to verify users. N – Face ID requires other verification methods following reading of the card.
6• data Deleting All Data Every time an enrolment is performed or verification is done, a transaction log is stored inside Face ID. The data contains Terminal ID, date, time, userID and transaction activity. For example, 0105021009000000000010000: Description Code Terminal ID 01 Date (ddmmyy) 050210 Time (hhmm) 0900 User ID 000000001 Transaction Code 00 Terminal Activity 00 These logs need to be managed to maintain the effectiveness of the terminal.
7• USB Understanding the Need for USB Flash Disk Communication between Face ID and a PC is very important to upload and download transaction data for time attendance and door access reports. Face ID offers a few communication options such as LAN and serial cable connections but sometimes there are scenarios that require USB (Universal Serial Bus) connectivity. USB can connect Face ID with a computer for download and upload of user information and transaction logs.
8• KEYBOARD 9• AUTO TEST Shortcut Keys in Short Who should do the Auto Test? Shortcut keys give you quick access to your most used functions. A total of 6 shortcut keys are available for you to configure. They are labeled as F1, F2, F3, F4, F5 and F6. Auto Test page is to diagnose or analyze the conditions in Face ID. There are several tests available in the Auto Test page and only administrator is allowed to perform the test.
Checking the Keyboard Keyboard Test is for you to check the condition of the keyboard. Menu > Auto Test icon > Keyboard Test Inspection on the Optical Scanner To determine the condition of the fingerprint optical scanner you need to run fingerprint test. Once you go into the Test Fingerprint, Face ID will display a white square on the screen. Place your finger on the scanner. If you can see your fingerprint on the white square, the optical scanner works fine.
11 • bell Definition of Schedule Bell Adjusting Volume of the Bell Schedule bell is a function to alert employees or users at a certain time based on your company’s scheduling and preference. For example, a group of employee’s lunch time is at 10:30a.m while the other group is at 2:00p.m. Face ID offers up to 56 schedules you can define. Menu > Bell > Choose the options that you want to change and change the value accordingly > Save You want it loud or not, it’s up to you.
12 • ACCESS Using Face ID as Door Access Face ID can be connected to door access accessories like electromagnetic lock and doorbolt to control access to doors. FingerTec provides all kinds of doorlock accessories which can be viewed at accessory.fingertec.com. In Access icon, you can configure 4 items which are explained below.
13 • Troubleshooting “Unable to Connect” Appears When this message appears, it means that the settings for Face ID and the computer are not properly done. Find out which method you are using to connect. Face ID offers LAN, RS232, RS485 and USB communication methods. Refer to Chapter 3 to further understand the topic. “Admin Affirm” Appears You are not the administrator of this Face ID terminal. Only an authorized administrator of the system is allowed to access the Menu.
The Face ID Doesn’t Read Your Face “Duplicate Finger” Appears Two possible causes for this to happen: Face ID is an intelligent terminal. It will not accept the same fingerprint twice into its system. If you have registered a finger into Face ID, the system would prompt “duplicate finger” when you try to enroll that finger for another time. Choose a different finger to proceed.
No Sound Two possble causes for this problem: Face ID voice mode is silent Perhaps someone has turned off the voice in your Face ID or reduced its volume to 0%. Refer to Chapter 5 System under Voice to rectify. Speaker is damaged Once you have rectified the voice mode and the problem persists, proceed to test the voice. Go to Chapter 9 to do the test. If no voice emitted, contact your local reseller for support.
