Safety Information
Opal is making a squeaking noise.
If Opal has always squeaked, and even squeaks in cleaning mode
Opal is making a chugging or tractor noise.
When Opal first starts up, the gear motor can make a chugging noise. This noise should be
considerably reduced after 15 to 20 minutes, once Opal starts making ice
Opal shuts off after five minutes, even with the ice bin in place.
This could indicate a malfunctioning ice bin switch.
First, make sure the ice bin is pushed all the way into the unit.
The interior lights are not turning on.
If the unit is working except for the interior lights, you may continue to use Opal.
The interior lights and/or display ring is very dim
Press and hold the front button for 3 seconds. This toggles Opal between day mode and night
mode.
When I start Opal, it makes slush first
As Opal starts making ice, the first nuggets will be slushy. After about 30 minutes, Opal will be
making good solid nuggets.
Sometimes Opal makes loud pumping noises when starting up.
At the start of ice making, Opal will flush the system with water for approximately 5 minutes.
You may see or hear water running during this process. This is normal. If your Opal seems loud
during this process it, may need more water.
Ice making schedule is off by an hour
Opal does not know when daylight savings time occurs. Simply reconnect your app and make a
minor change to your schedule. This will update Opal's internal clock and correct its schedule.
Opal will start, then immediately flash green and shut off, then restart again. It repeats
this until I unplug it.
Unplug your Opal. Flip the switch on the back into cleaning mode, then plug it back in. The
display ring should pulse yellow. Press the button. It likely will shut off, then restart in clean
mode again, with the display ring again pulsing yellow.
