Kinder-Ready Tips Preparing for kindergarten can begin long before the first day of school! Here are a few things you can do to help your child get ready for school – academically, socially and physically. 1. Read together as often as possible and invite your child to get involved in the story by pointing to words and pictures. 2. Expose your child to math concepts including numbers, counting, shapes and patterns.
Kinder-Ready Activities Games are wonderful ways to get your child thinking! There are so many funfilled activities and games you can play with your child – just like Kasey does – to expand the learning! Here are a few suggestions you can try at home. • Treasure Hunt Game - Your child can learn to follow directions when you make up your own treasure hunt game. Place a special treat for your child in a box (try a healthy snack) and hide it. Then, make a map for your child to follow through your house.
Kinder-Ready Activities • Let’s Bake Shape Cookies - Children learn through hands-on activities. Help your child learn about shapes by baking shape cookies. Your child can follow a recipe along with you. Take turns adding the ingredients. Your child identifies the shape when cutting the cookie out of the dough and then again when eating this yummy treat! • Exercising is Fun - Encourage physical activity and help your child develop coordination.
