5.10.1ThermalImagerBasics
IntheThermalImagingmodetheusercanmeasureatargetedsurface’stemperature.Thisis
accomplishedbydetectingtheenergyemittedbythesurfaceundertest.Athermalimageof
theareaundertestisviewedinthesamemanneraswithdedicatedthermalimagingdevices,
wherecolorvariationsreflecttemperature

TheTemperaturemeasurement(1)shownontheupperleftcornerofthedisplay
representsthe
temperatureofthespotsensed.Notethatwhilethetemperaturereadingis
stabilizingdasheswillbedisplayedforapproximately30seconds.TheLaserandtheCross
hairs(8)canbeusedforprecisetargeting(setthemONorOFFindividuallyinthe
ProgrammingMenu).
ThecurrentlyselectedEmissivityvalue(10)isshownontheupperrightcorner.Usethe
programmingMenutochangetheemissivitysetting.SeetheEmissivitytablelaterinthis
guideforalistofsettingsforvarioussurfacetextures.
TheThermalscale(9)showstherangeofcolorsforthermalimages.Thelighterthecolor,
thewarmerthetemperature;thedarkerthecolor,thecoolerthetemperature.
TheDistancetoSpotratiofortheimageris30:1meaningthatthemeasurementspotis30
timessmallerthanthedistancethemeterisfromspot(atadistanceof30”,themeter
‘sees’atargetspot
