modeoptions.
2. Connecttheexternalpinprobetothemeter’sEXTjackonthebottomofthemeter
(undertheprotectiveflap).
3. SelecttheappropriateMaterialGroupasdescribedinSection5.2.4(seeSe
ction9forthe
MaterialGroupAppendices).Note:UseGroup9forbuildingmaterials.
4. Pressthepins intothematerialundertest.
5. Themoisturereadingisdisplayedon themaindisplay(in%WME)intheupperlefthand
corner(IR+Moisturemode)orasabargraphwithaccompanyingdigits(Mois
ture‐only
mode).RefertoexamplescreensshowninFig.5‐1andFig.5‐2.
5.2.7ReferenceModeMoistureMeasurements
1. FollowthestepsinSection5.2.1through5.2.4andselectSETREFERENCEfromthe
MOISTUREmodeoptions.Thismodeisonlyavailableforpinlessmeasurements(internal
sensor).
2. WhentheSETREFERENCEmodeisselectedanewdisplaylinewillappearprecededbya
delta(triangle)symbol.Thedigitsnexttothetriang
lesymbolindicatethereferencevalue
(themeasurementrecordedwhentheSETREFERENCEmodeisselected).Referto
examplescreensshowninFig.5‐1andFig.5‐2.
3. Allmeasurementstakensubsequentlywillberelativetothereferencevalue.For
example,ifthereferencevalueis‘10’(re
presentingthedriestareaofthematerialunder
test)andameasurementof‘50’istaken(inanareawithhighermoisturecontent),the
measurementlinewillshow‘40’(50–10=40).Asimplied,thismodeisusefulfor
comparingwetareastoadryareareference.
4. Thereferencevalueisdisplayedonthemaindisplayintheupperlefthandcorner(IR+
Moisturemode)ortotherightofthebargraph(Moisture‐onlymode).Refertoexample
screensshowninFig.5‐1andFig.5‐2.
5. Toremovethereferencevalueandexitthemod
e:Removethemetersensorfromthe
areaundertest,sothatthesensorisnolongertouchingasurfaceandisclearofany
objects(keephandsawayfromthesensoralso),andthenpresstheSetReferenceicon
again.Thereferencevaluewillnolongerbevisibleonthemeterdisplay.
