FS-2/2E Functions
2.5.12.3 OS Upgrade
To upgrade operating system (OS) software, you must download
a new .bin file to a FireWire drive on your computer. The latest
version of FS-2/2E software can be downloaded from http://
www.focusinfo.com/support.
There are three methods for installing new FS-2/2E software:
• Via the Web Interface, see
Updating FS-2E Software via FTP
on page 109.
• Directly onto the FS-2/2E internal drive, see the following
procedure.
• From an external FireWire drive, see the following
procedure.
To begin:
1. Download software from the Focus Website to your local
computer.
2. Unzip file using WinZip (Windows) or Stuffit (Macintosh)
on a computer system with a FireWire (IEEE-1394)
connection.
3. Rename the unzipped file, XXXX.bin, to fs2.bin.
2.5.12.3.1 Copy Software to FS-2/2E Internal Drive
To install new OS software onto the internal drive of
the FS-2/2E, do the following:
1. Using a FireWire cable, connect the computer and
FS-2/2E through the FS-2/2E port labeled,

2. Copy the fs2.bin file to the internal drive of the
FS-2/2E.
3. Enter the FS-2/2E menu and select SETUP.
4. From the SETUP menu, select OS UPGRADE.
The following screen appears:
