Frequently Asked Questions
What will my building inspector say about this product?
The inspector may not be aware of the product. Be prepared to show the building official the
International Code Council (ICC) Evaluation Services Report ESR-2147. No other below-grade footing
product is tested for its weight-bearing capacity. Independent engineering laboratories conduct
rigorous tests on FootingPad brand post footings in order to get code compliance.
Why should I use FootingPad versus footings made of other materials?

How do I use the product?
Before digging, be sure to check with your local utilities to mark underground utilities.
- Dig a hole slightly wider than the diameter of the FootingPad you are using. If using a power auger, in
most cases an auger of the same will work (i.e. a 16 auger will work for a 16 diameter FootingPad)
- Depth of the hole should be below the frost line to prevent heaving. Frost depth will vary based on
where you are digging. Check with local building officials or other available on-line references for frost
depth information.
- Level and tamp the bottom of the hole to ensure FootingPad is fully supported and on undisturbed soil.
- Place the FootingPad in the hole with the smooth side down, ribbed side facing UP.
- Place your post on the FootingPad.
- Backfill the hole with soil, tamping the soil after each 12 of fill.
