Hardware Usage Guide HOW TO USE A TWIST-LOCK FASTENER 1. 2. Push a TWIST-LOCK FASTENER into the large hole in the part. 1. Insert the dowel end of the FASTENER into the hole of the adjoining part. NOTE: The dowel end of the FASTENER must remain fully inserted in the hole of the adjoining part while locking the FASTENER. 2. Tighten the FASTENER with a Phillips screwdriver as tight as possible. Step 1 å Assemble your unit on a carpeted floor or on the empty carton to avoid scratching your unit or the floor. å Push four TWIST-LOCK FASTENERS (37F) into the large holes in the ENDS (A and B). å Insert four WOOD DOWELS (15F) into the ENDS (A and B). Some assembly (and snacks) required. Do not tighten the TWIST-LOCK FASTENERS in this step. 15F A B Meet Parts (A and B). These components have been engineered to be lighter, stronger, faster… well ok. Not technically faster.
Step 2 å Separate the EXTENSION SLIDES (40MC) from the EXTENSION RAILS (40MA) as shown in the upper diagram below. Be prepared, the parts are greasy. å Fasten the EXTENSION RAILS (40MA) to the ENDS (A and B). Use eight SILVER 1/2" FLAT HEAD SCREWS (128S) through holes #1 and #4. å NOTE: For each EXTENSION RAIL, turn a SCREW into the hole shown in the enlarged diagram. Then, slide the inner cartridge of the EXTENSION RAIL in to find the other hole that lines up with the hole in the END.
Step 3 å Fasten the INTERLOCK MECHANISM (34G) to the RIGHT END (A) exactly as shown. Use three BLACK 9/16" PAN HEAD SCREWS (51S). å Fasten the L-LOCK BRACKET (76G) to the RIGHT END (A) exactly as shown. Use two BLACK 9/16" LARGE HEAD SCREWS (1S).
Step 4 å Push eight TWIST-LOCK FASTENERS (37F) into the large holes in the BACKS (J). å Insert eight WOOD DOWELS (15F) into the BACKS (J). Do not tighten the TWIST-LOCK FASTENERS in this step.
Step 5 å Fasten the BACKS (J) to the RIGHT END (A). Tighten four TWIST-LOCK FASTENERS. å NOTE: Be sure the WOOD DOWELS in the BACKS insert into the END. Step 6 å Push four TWIST-LOCK FASTENERS (37F) into the large holes in the BOTTOM (G). Do not tighten the TWIST-LOCK FASTENERS in this step.
Step 7 å Fasten the BOTTOM (G) to the RIGHT END (A). Tighten two TWIST-LOCK FASTENERS. G A These holes must be here.
Step 8 å Fasten the LEFT END (B) to the BOTTOM (G) and BACKS (J). Tighten six TWIST-LOCK FASTENERS. å NOTE: Be sure the WOOD DOWELS in the BACKS insert into the END.
Step 9 å Fasten the TOP (F) to the ENDS (A and B). Tighten four TWIST-LOCK FASTENERS. å NOTE: Be sure the WOOD DOWELS in the ENDS insert into the TOP. Hey! It's starting to look like something! B F These holes must be here.
Step 10 å Fasten four METAL BRACKETS (4G) to the TOP MOLDING (C). Use four BLACK 9/16" LARGE HEAD SCREWS (1S). å NOTE: Be sure the BRACKETS are even with the edge of the MOLDING. å Fasten the TOP MOLDING (C) to the TOP (F). Use four BLACK 9/16" LARGE HEAD SCREWS (1S) through the METAL BRACKETS on the MOLDING and into the holes in the TOP.
Step 11 å å Carefully turn your unit onto the top. å Fasten two METAL BRACKETS (4G) to the BOTTOM (G). Use two BLACK 9/16" LARGE HEAD SCREWS (1S). å NOTE: Be sure the BRACKETS are even with the edge of the BOTTOM. Fasten two CORNER BRACKETS (31G) to the ENDS (A and B) and BOTTOM (G) exactly as shown. Use eight BLACK 9/16" LARGE HEAD SCREWS (1S).
Step 12 å Fasten the BASE (H) to the BOTTOM (G). Use six BLACK 9/16" LARGE HEAD SCREWS (1S) through the BRACKETS on the BOTTOM and into the holes in the BASE.
Step 13 å Fasten the Z-LOCK BRACKET (77G) to the UPPER DRAWER FRONT (D) exactly as shown. Use two BLACK 9/16" LARGE HEAD SCREWS (1S). å Turn two CAM SCREWS (8F) into the DRAWER FRONTS (D and E).
Step 14 1 The tabs should insert freely into the slots. Gently tilt the DRAWER SIDES side to side until the tabs slip into the slots. 2 With the palm of your hand, tap the DRAWER BOTTOM down into the groove. Groove å D548 E å Insert the DRAWER SIDES (D547 and D548) at an angle into the slot at each end of the LOWER DRAWER FRONT (E).
Step 15 å Fasten two FILE BRACKETS (12B) to the LOWER DRAWER FRONT (E) and DRAWER BACK (D61) exactly as shown. Use four BROWN 7/16" LARGE HEAD SCREWS (6S). å Repeat this step for the other drawer.
Step 16 å å Insert a SLIDE CAM (10A) into the DRAWER SIDES (D547 and D548). å NOTE: The screw head in the CAM must be visible through the slotted hole in the SLIDE. å Repeat this step for the other drawer. Fasten the EXTENSION SLIDES (40MC) to the DRAWER SIDES (D547 and D548). Use four GOLD 5/16" FLAT HEAD SCREWS (3S) through holes #1 and #4.
Step 17 å å NOTE: Pay close attention to the locations of the DRAWER ACTUATORS (62G) in this step. å Fasten the other DRAWER ACTUATOR (62G) to the RIGHT DRAWER SIDE (D547) above the SLIDE on the LOWER DRAWER (E). Use three BLACK 1/2" FLAT HEAD SCREWS (11S). Fasten one DRAWER ACTUATOR (62G) to the RIGHT DRAWER SIDE (D547) below the SLIDE on the UPPER DRAWER (D). Use three BLACK 1/2" FLAT HEAD SCREWS (11S). D547 D 62G This ACTUATOR is below the SLIDE. The BRACKET must be here.
Step 18 å Fasten two PULLS (191K) to the LOWER DRAWER FRONT (E). Use four BLACK 7/8" MACHINE SCREWS (37S). å Repeat this step for the other drawer.
Step 19 å Press a FILE GLIDE (6B) onto the top edge of the RIGHT DRAWER SIDE (D547). å Slide the FILE RODS (9B) through a FILE BAR (1B), through the holes in the FILE BRACKETS (12B), through another FILE BAR (1B), and into the FILE GLIDE (6B) on the RIGHT DRAWER SIDE (D547). å Slide another FILE GLIDE (6B) onto the other ends of the FILE RODS (9B), then press this FILE GLIDE over the LEFT DRAWER SIDE (D548). å Repeat this step for the other drawer.
Step 20 å Fasten the LOCK PACK (21J) to the LOWER DRAWER FRONT (E) in the exact order shown. å å NOTE: It is important to position the CAM exactly as shown. Almost time to celebrate! With a nap. NOTE: Turn the KEY clockwise to lock. WASHER CAM NUT The prongs must press into the FILE DRAWER FRONT as you tighten the NUT with an Adjustable Wrench.
Step 21 å å å Carefully stand your unit upright. å å å NOTE: The lower DRAWER ACTUATOR will be near the top of the RIGHT DRAWER SIDE as shown in Diagram 2. Pull the lower wing of the INTERLOCK MECHANISM (34G) forward until it clicks into place as shown in Diagram 1. To insert the lower drawer into your unit, line up the EXTENSION SLIDES on the drawers with the EXTENSION RAILS on the unit and push the drawer into the unit until the drawer it is fully inserted.
Step 22 å To make adjustments to the drawer, loosen SCREW #4 in the SLIDES a 1/4 turn, then turn the cam clockwise or counter-clockwise. Notice how the drawer raises or lowers as you turn the cam. By adjusting the drawer this way, it will help the DRAWER FRONT line up better when closed. Tighten the SCREWS when finished with adjustments. å å NOTE: Please read the back pages of the instruction booklet for important safety information. This completes assembly. Clean with a damp cloth. Wipe dry.
