Description
The extension nipples feature one piece construction of solid brass*. The
outer dimension has been “diamond” knurled for ease of installation. They are
available in ½” or ¾” IPS and several lengths. They have been designed to be
used as sprinkler head extensions when a drop nipple length has been cut too
short or when the nished ceiling has changed from its intended location. Using
the appropriate length extension will allow for realignment of the sprinkler head
without removing and recutting the drop nipple. This represents a signicant
cost savings to the sprinkler installation company. Check with local authority
having jurisdiction prior to use.
Installation
Proper care and preparation should be used when installing the extension
nipples. Make sure that all threads are free from burs and foreign objects. Apply
a liberal amount of suitable thread sealant making sure to push the sealant
deep into the thread roots or 2 to 3 wraps of PTFE Pipe Thread Tape can also
be used. (Never use both tape and paste type thread sealant). Thread extension
into the female thread of the reducing coupling until hand tight. Finish tightening
with pump handle pliers approximately one full turn. Make sure to hold back
reducer while tightening extension and then the reducer while tightening the
sprinkler. See complete product installation instructions included with product.
Caution: Do not exceed 15 foot pounds torque. Over tightening will cause
the sprinkler extension to crack and leak.
See additional warnings regarding waiver of liability and use.
