PART IDENTIFICATION CHART Use the drawings below to identify small parts used for assembly. The number in parentheses below each drawing is the key number of the part, from the PART LIST near the end of this manual. The number following the key number is the quantity used for assembly. Note: If a part is not in the hardware kit, check to see if it is preattached. Extra parts may be included.
ASSEMBLY • Assembly requires two persons. • To identify small parts, see page 6. • Place all parts in a cleared area and remove the packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until you nish all assembly steps. • Assembly requires the following tools: the included hex key • After shipping, there may be an oily substance on the exterior of the treadmill. This is normal. If there is an oily substance on the treadmill, wipe it off with a soft cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleaner.
3. Pull the Upright Wire (84) and the base ground wire (A) through the indicated hole in the Base (97). 3 If there is a screw (B) pre-installed in the side of the Base (97), remove and discard the screw. Attach the base ground wire (A) to the Base with a #8 x 1/2" Ground Screw (9). Hole 84 B A 9 4. Identify the Left Upright (89). Have a second person hold the Left Upright near the Base (97). 97 4 84 89 See the inset drawing.
5. Hold the Left Upright (89) against the Base (97). Be careful not to pinch the wires. If necessary, position the base ground wire (A) in the hole in the side of the Left Upright. 5 Insert two 3/8" x 2 3/4" Screws (7) and two 3/8" x 1 1/4" Screws (8) with two 3/8" Star Washers (12) into the Left Upright (89). Note: It may be helpful to put the head of the Screw that goes into the indicated hole on the end of the hex key (C) and then insert it into the hole.
7. Attach a Tray Bracket (105) to the side of the Left Upright (89) with two #8 x 3/4" Screws (1). Start both Screws, and then tighten them. Make sure to use the bracket holes shown. 7 Fan Wire 105 Attach the other Tray Bracket (not shown) to the Right Upright (not shown) in the same way. 30 Hold the Fan Tray (30) near the Left Upright (89). Insert the fan wire through the hole in the side of the Left Upright and pull it out of the top as shown.
9. Insert the wires into the Left Upright (89) as you set the console assembly on the Uprights. Be careful not to pinch the wires. 9 Console Assembly Attach the console assembly with four 5/16" x 1 1/2" Screws (5) and four 5/16" Star Washers (10). Start all four Screws, and then tighten them. 5 10 5 10 90 Wires 89 10. Identify the Left Handrail (87). 10 Have a second person hold the Fan Tray (30) away from the Tray Brackets (105) (only one side is shown.
11. Attach the Fan Tray (30) to the Tray Brackets (105) with four #8 x 3/4" Screws (1) (only one side is shown). Start all four Screws, and then tighten them. Then, insert any excess wire from the Fan Tray into the Left Upright (89). 11 30 12. Firmly tighten the four 3/8" x 2 3/4" Screws (7) and the four 3/8" x 1 1/4" Screws (8) (only one side is shown). 105 89 1 12 93 Press the Left and Right Base Covers (92, 93) onto the Base (97) until they snap into place.
. Raise the Frame (56) to the position shown. Have a second person hold the Frame until this step is completed. 13 56 Orient the Storage Latch (53) so that the large barrel and the latch knob are in the position shown. 6 11 Attach the lower end of the Storage Latch (53) to the Base (97) with a 3/8" x 2" Bolt (3) and a 3/8" Nut (11). 53 Latch Knob Attach the upper end of the Storage Latch (53) to the bracket on the Frame (56) with a 3/8" x 1 3/4" Bolt (6) and a 3/8" Nut (11).
15. Press the Grommet (81) into the square hole in the Base (97). 15 Hole 81 97 16. Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill. If there are sheets of plastic on the treadmill decals, remove the plastic. To protect the floor or carpet, place a mat under the treadmill. Note: Extra parts may be included. Keep the included hex keys in a secure place; one of the hex keys is used to adjust the walking belt (see page 31).
THE CHEST HEART RATE MONITOR HOW TO PUT ON THE HEART RATE MONITOR The heart rate monitor consists of a chest strap and a sensor. Insert the tab on one end of the chest strap into the hole in one end of the sensor as shown. Then, press the end of the sensor under the buckle on the chest strap. The tab should be flush with the front of the sensor.
OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD Follow the steps below to plug in the power cord. This product must be earthed. If it should malfunction or break down, earthing provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This product’s power cord has an equipment-earthing conductor and an earthing plug. IMPORTANT: If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced with a manufacturer-recommended power cord. 1.
CONSOLE DIAGRAM FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE As you exercise, the console will display instant exercise feedback. You can also measure your heart rate using the handgrip heart rate monitor or the chest heart rate monitor. The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effective and enjoyable. The console features revolutionary iFit technology that enables the treadmill to communicate with your wireless network.
HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER HOW TO USE THE TOUCH SCREEN IMPORTANT: If the treadmill has been exposed to cold temperatures, allow it to warm to room temperature before you turn on the power. If you do not do this, you may damage the console display or other electrical components. The console features a tablet with a full-color touch screen. The following information will help you become familiar with the tablet’s advanced technology: Plug in the power cord (see page 16).
HOW TO SET UP THE CONSOLE the iFit.com home page. Follow the prompts on the website to sign up for your iFit membership. Before using the treadmill for the first time, set up the console. The console is now ready for you to begin working out. The following pages explain the various workouts and other features that the console offers. 1. Connect to your wireless network.
HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE Note: The first time you adjust the incline, you must first calibrate the incline system (see step 4 on page 26). 1. Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 18. Note: It may take a minute for the console to be ready for use. 5. Monitor your progress. The console offers several display modes. The display mode that you select will determine which workout information is shown. To select the desired display mode, simply flick or slide the screen.
If desired, adjust the console volume by pressing the volume increase and decrease buttons on the console. hands. When your pulse is detected, your heart rate will be shown. For the most accurate heart rate reading, continue to hold the contacts for about 15 seconds. 7. Turn on the fan if desired. To pause the workout, touch one of the menu buttons or press the Stop button on the console. To continue the workout, touch the Resume button or the Start button.
HOW TO USE AN ONBOARD WORKOUT the Finish button to return to the main menu. You may also be able to either save or publish your results using one of the options on the screen. 1. Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 18. If the speed and/or incline settings are too high or too low at any time during the workout, you can override the settings by pressing the Speed or Incline buttons.
HOW TO USE A SET-A-GOAL WORKOUT The workout will function in the same way as the manual mode (see pages 20 and 21). 1. Insert the key into the console. The workout will continue until you reach the goal that you set. The walking belt will then slow to a stop, and a workout summary will appear on the screen. After you view the workout summary, touch the Finish button to return to the main menu. You may also be able to either save or publish your results using one of the options on the screen.
HOW TO USE AN IFIT WORKOUT Before some workouts will download, you must add them to your schedule on iFit.com. Note: To use an iFit workout, you must have access to a wireless network (see HOW TO USE THE WIRELESS NETWORK MODE on page 27). An iFit account is also required. For more information about the iFit workouts, please see www.iFit.com. 1. Insert the key into the console. When you select an iFit workout, the screen will show the name, duration, and distance of the workout.
HOW TO USE THE EQUIPMENT SETTINGS MODE 7. Turn on or turn off the display demo mode. 1. Select the settings main menu. The console features a display demo mode, designed to be used if the treadmill is displayed in a store. While the demo mode is turned on, the console will function normally when you plug in the power cord, press the power switch into the reset position, and insert the key into the console. However, when you remove the key, the screen will show a demo presentation.
Touch the Passcode button. To enable a passcode, touch the Enable checkbox. Then, enter a 4-digit passcode of your choice. Touch Save to use this passcode. Touch Cancel to return to the equipment settings mode and not use a passcode. To disable the passcode, touch the Disable checkbox. 3. Update the console firmware. For the best results, regularly check for firmware updates. Touch the Firmware Update button to check for firmware updates using your wireless network. The update will begin automatically.
6. View machine information. wireless network is within range and available. Touch the Machine Info button to view information about your treadmill. After you view the information, touch the back button on the screen. Note: You must have your own wireless network and an 802.11b/g/n router with SSID broadcast enabled (hidden networks are not supported). 7. Find keycodes. When a list of networks appears, touch the desired network. Note: You will need to know your network name (SSID).
HOW TO USE THE SOUND SYSTEM HOW TO USE THE INTERNET BROWSER To play music or audio books through the console sound system while you exercise, plug a 3.5 mm male to 3.5 mm male audio cable (not included) into the jack on the console and into a jack on your MP3 player, CD player, or other personal audio player; make sure that the audio cable is fully plugged in. Note: To purchase an audio cable, see your local electronics store.

Then, remove the key and unplug the power cord. CAUTION: You must be able to safely lift 45 lbs. (20 kg) to raise, lower, or move the treadmill. Before moving the treadmill, fold it as described at the left. CAUTION: Make sure that the latch knob is locked in the storage position. Moving the treadmill may require two people. 1.
TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the simple steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, see the front cover of this manual. c. Remove the key from the console, and then reinsert it. d. If an extension cord is needed, use only a 3-conductor, 14-gauge (1 mm2) cord that is no longer than 5 ft. (1.5 m). IMPORTANT: If the walking belt rubs against the foot rails, the walking belt may become damaged. a. First, remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD.
EXERCISE GUIDELINES Burning Fat—To burn fat effectively, you must exercise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time. During the first few minutes of exercise, your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy. Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy. If your goal is to burn fat, adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone.
SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1. Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible. Hold for 15 counts, then relax. Repeat 3 times. Stretches: Hamstrings, back of knees and back. 1 2. Hamstring Stretch Sit with one leg extended.
