The E7.7 elliptical provides an impressive selection of features designed to make your workouts at home more effective and enjoyable.
ASSEMBLY Assembly requires two persons. Place all parts of the elliptical in a cleared area and remove the packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. In addition to the included tool(s), assembly requires a Phillips screwdriver , and a rubber mallet . wrench , an adjustable As you assemble the elliptical, use the drawings below to identify small parts.
1. 1 To make assembly easier, read the information on page 5 before you begin. Orient the Shield Cover (39) and the Upright (2) as shown. Slide the Shield Cover upward onto the Upright. Wire Tie Wire Tie Have a second person hold the Upright (2) near the Frame (1). See the inset drawing. Locate the wire tie in the Upright (2). Tie the lower end of the wire tie to the frame wires (A). Next, pull the upper end of the wire tie upward out of the top of the Upright. Then, untie and discard the wire tie.
3. Identify the Right Frame Cover (8), and orient it as shown. 3 Attach the Right Frame Cover (8) to the Frame (1) with two M6 x 20mm Screws (68) and an M6 x 13mm Screw (84). 84 Attach the Left Frame Cover (not shown) in the same way. 68 1 68 8 4. While a second person holds the Console (6) near the Upright (2), connect the wires on the Console to the frame wires (A). Insert the excess wire downward into the Upright. 4 6 Note: Some of the wires are for the optional Workout TV (see page 10).
5. Identify the Right Handlebar (35), which is marked with an “R” sticker. 5 Attach the Right Handlebar (35) to the Right Handlebar Leg (32) with two M8 x 30mm Screws (65). 35 Attach the Left Handlebar (not shown) to the Left Handlebar Leg (not shown) in the same way. 32 6. Attach the Rear Stabilizer Cover (5) to the Stabilizer Bracket (86) with two M8 x 60mm Screws (88). 65 6 52 Attach the Stabilizer Block (90) to the Stabilizer Bracket (86) with two M4 x 15mm Screws (52).
7. Remove the adhesive backing from the Rear Stabilizer Overlay (10) and from the Rear Stabilizer Cover (5). 7 Press the Rear Stabilizer Overlay (10) onto the Track Frame (3) and the Rear Stabilizer Cover (5). 10 5 3 8. Make sure that all parts of the elliptical are properly tightened. Note: Some hardware may be left over after assembly is completed. To protect the floor or carpet from damage, place a mat under the elliptical.
HOW TO UPGRADE THE CONSOLE Your elliptical has been preconfigured to operate with a Basic console and a Workout TV console (see the drawings below). To learn about the features of the Basic console, see page 13. To learn about the features of the Workout TV console, see the userʼs manual included with the Workout TV console. To upgrade your console and expand the capabilities of your elliptical whenever you choose, see the back cover of this manual.
HOW TO USE THE ELLIPTICAL HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER ADAPTER HOW TO MOVE THE ELLIPTICAL Due to the size and weight of the elliptical, moving it requires two persons. Have two persons lift the indicated end of the elliptical until the elliptical will roll on the front wheels. Carefully move the elliptical to the desired location and then lower it to the level position. CAUTION: To decrease the risk of injury, bend your legs and keep your back straight.
HOW TO EXERCISE ON THE ELLIPTICAL To mount the elliptical, hold the handlebars and step onto the pedal that is in the lowest position. Then, step onto the other pedal. Push the pedals until they begin to move with a continuous motion. Note: The pedal discs can turn in either direction. It is recommended that you turn the pedal discs in the direction shown by the arrow; however, for variety, you can turn the pedal discs in the opposite direction.
CONSOLE DIAGRAM The console also offers the following programs: Twenty-three preset programs that automatically change the resistance of the pedals and prompt you to maintain a target pace while guiding you through an effective workout. Three manual programs that allow you to set your own time, distance, or calorie goal for the workout. Two custom programs that allow you to create your own workouts and store them in memory for future use.
HOW TO ACTIVATE THE CONSOLE HOW TO TURN OFF THE CONSOLE See HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER ADAPTER on page 10. When the power cord is plugged in, the main display will turn on and the console will be ready for use. If the pedals are not moved for a short period of time, the console will enter an idle mode and a screen saver will appear in the main display. Unplug the power cord when the elliptical is not in use.
HOW TO USE THE QUICK START MODE 4. Follow your progress with the displays. If you do not plan to use a program, the quick start mode allows you to start exercising and adjust the resistance of the pedals manually. The main display—This display offers several display modes. The display mode that you select will determine which workout information is shown. Press the Display button repeatedly to select the desired display mode. 1. Press any button or begin pedaling to activate the console.
The lower left display—This display will show your pedaling pace in revolutions per minute (rpm). When you hold the handgrip pulse sensor, a small heart symbol will appear in the display. Then, when your pulse is detected, your heart rate will be shown in the display next to the heart symbol. For the most accurate heart rate reading, hold the contacts for at least 15 seconds. The lower right display—This display will show the resistance level of the pedals.
HOW TO USE A MANUAL PROGRAM 4. Enter your weight. A manual program allows you to set a time, distance, or calorie goal for your workout as you control the resistance of the pedals. Next, the words ENTER WEIGHT and a weight setting will appear in the main display. 1. Press any button or begin pedaling to activate the console. See HOW TO ACTIVATE THE CONSOLE on page 14. 2. Select a manual program.
6. Start the program. 7. Follow your progress with the displays. If you selected the MANUAL TIME program, the time display mode will count down the time remaining in the program. Press the Start button or begin pedaling to start the program. Each program is divided into several one-minute segments. During the program, the program profile will show your progress (see the drawing in step 2 on page 17).
HOW TO USE A PRESET PROGRAM 4. Enter your weight. A preset program automatically changes the resistance of the pedals and prompts you to maintain a target pace while guiding you through your workout. Select a preset program.
6. Follow your progress with the displays. As you exercise, keep your pedaling pace near the target rpm setting for the current segment, which is shown in the main display. IMPORTANT: The target rpm settings are intended only to provide motivation. Your actual pace may be slower than the target rpm settings. Make sure to pedal at a pace that is comfortable for you. See step 4 on page 15. 7. Measure your heart rate if desired. See step 5 on page 16. 8. Turn on the fan if desired. See step 6 on page 16.
HOW TO CREATE A CUSTOM PROGRAM 4. Program the desired program settings. A custom program allows you to create your own workouts and store them in memory for future use. Each custom workout is divided into 30 oneminute segments. You can program one resistance level and one target rpm (pace) setting for each segment. 1. Press any button or begin pedaling to activate the console.

To select a custom program, first press the Custom/Heart Rate button repeatedly until the name of the desired custom program appears in the main display. To enter your weight (1 kilogram = 2.
To stop the program at any time, stop pedaling or press the Pause button. To restart the program, simply resume pedaling or press the Start button. To exit the program at any time, press the Clear button. As you exercise, keep your pedaling pace near the target rpm setting for the current segment, which is shown in the main display. IMPORTANT: The target rpm settings are intended only to provide motivation. Your actual pace may be slower than the target rpm settings.
HOW TO USE A HEART RATE PROGRAM To enter a maximum heart rate setting, press the increase and decrease buttons beside the Enter button. Then, press the Enter button. The CONSTANT HEART RATE program automatically controls the resistance of the pedals to keep your heart rate near a target level during your workout. 4. Start the program. The VARIABLE HEART RATE program automatically controls the resistance of the pedals to keep your heart rate within a target range during your workout.
HOW TO USE THE CONSTANT WATTS PROGRAM The program will continue in this way until the last segment of the profile flashes. 1. Press any button or begin pedaling to activate the console. To stop the program at any time, stop pedaling or press the Pause button. To resume the program, simply resume pedaling or press the Start button. To exit the program at any time, press the Clear button. See HOW TO ACTIVATE THE CONSOLE on page 14. 2. Select the constant watts program. 5.

HOW TO USE THE MAINTENANCE MODE If the pedals on the elliptical do not move for a period of time, a pause timeout will occur and the console will enter an idle mode. When the console is in the idle mode, the displays will be reset to zeros and a screen saver will appear in the main display. The console features a maintenance mode that allows you to access usage information and to view and change default settings. 1. Press any button or begin pedaling to activate the console.
HOW TO USE THE SOUND SYSTEM HOW TO USE AN IFIT WORKOUT To play music or audio books through the console sound system while you exercise, plug an audio cable (not included) into the MP3 jack on the console and into a jack on your MP3 player or CD player; make sure that the audio cable is fully plugged in. iFit cards are available separately. HANDGRIP PULSE SENSOR TROUBLESHOOTING If the console does not display your heart rate when you hold the handgrip pulse sensor, or if the displayed heart rate appears to be too high or too low, see step 5 on page 16. Inspect and tighten all parts of the elliptical regularly. Replace any worn parts immediately.
EXERCISE GUIDELINES WARNING: Burning Fat—To burn fat effectively, you must exercise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time. During the first few minutes of exercise, your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy. Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy. If your goal is to burn fat, adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone.
