COOKING RECOMMENDATIONS 11 Cooking Conditions Conditions in your kitchen can affect the performance of your appliance when cooking food. If food is too dark or overcooked, use the minimum cook time in the recipe or packaging. If food is too light or undercooked, use the middle to maximum cook time in the recipe or packaging.
COOKING RECOMMENDATIONS Material Recommendation Broiling / Roasting Broiling pan For best results when broiling, use a broil pan with a broil pan insert designed to drain the fat from the food, help avoid spatter, and reduce smoking. The broiler pan will catch grease spills, and the insert helps prevent grease splatters. If a broiler pan and insert are not supplied with this appliance, they may be purchased from Frigidaire.com.
BEFORE SETTING SURFACE CONTROLS 13 Gas surface burner types Assembly of the Burner Caps The cooktop is equipped with gas surface burners with different BTU ratings. The ability to heat food quickly and in large amounts increases as the burner size increases. Make sure that all of the surface burner caps and surface burner grates are installed correctly and at the correct locations. • Small burners are best used for low-flame heating of small amounts of food.
BEFORE SETTING SURFACE CONTROLS Using Proper Cookware Cookware Material Types The size and type of cookware used will influence the heat setting needed for best cooking results. Be sure to follow the recommendations for using proper cookware as illustrated in “Figure 2: Testing cookware” and “Figure 3: Proper cookware”. The cookware material determines how evenly and quickly heat is transferred from the surface element to the pan bottom.
BEFORE SETTING SURFACE CONTROLS 15 Install Burner Grates Home Canning To install burner grates, place the grates flat-side down and align them into the cooktop recess.. Be sure to read and observe all the following points when home canning with your appliance. Check with the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) Web site and be sure to read all the information they have available as well as follow their recommendations for home canning procedures.

Your gas appliance may be equipped with many different sized surface burners. It is important to select cookware that is suitable for the amount and type of food being prepared. Select a burner and flame size appropriate for the cookware size. • The standard size burner or burners may be used for most surface cooking needs.

BEFORE SETTING OVEN CONTROLS Oven Vent Location Types of Oven Rack The oven is vented as shown below. When the oven is on, warm air is released through the vent. This venting is necessary for proper air circulation in the oven and good baking results. Do not block oven vent. Never close off the openings with aluminium foil or any other material. Steam or moisture may appear near the oven vent. This is normal.

CARE AND CLEANING Remove spills and any heavy soiling as soon as possible. Regular cleaning will reduce the difficulty of major cleaning later. CAUTION Before cleaning any part of the appliance, be sure all controls are turned off and the appliance is cool. If ammonia or appliance cleaners are used, they must be removed and the appliance must be thoroughly rinsed before operating. Follow manufacturer’s instructions and provide adequate ventilation.
CARE AND CLEANING 25 Surface or Area Cleaning Recommendation Porcelain-enameled broiler pan and insert Rinse with clean water and a damp cloth. Scrub gently with a soapy, non-abrasive scouring pad to remove most spots. Rinse with a 50/50 solution of clean water and ammonia. If necessary, cover difficult spots with an ammonia-soaked paper towel for 30 to 40 minutes. Rinse and wipe dry with a clean cloth. Remove all cleaners or future heating could damage the porcelain.
CARE AND CLEANING Cleaning the surface burners To avoid possible burns, do not attempt cleaning before turning off all surface burners and allowing them to cool. The oven interior is porcelain on steel, it is safe to clean using oven cleaners. Follow these cleaning precautions: • Allow the oven to cool before cleaning. • Wear rubber gloves when cleaning the appliance manually. Remove soils using hot, soapy water.
CARE AND CLEANING Aluminum Foil, Aluminum Utensils, and Oven Liners Replacing the Oven Light CAUTION WARNING Never cover any slots, holes, or passages in the oven bottom or cover an entire oven rack with materials such as aluminum foil. Doing so blocks air flow through the oven and may cause carbon monoxide poisoning. Aluminum foil linings may trap heat, causing a fire hazard. • Protective liners—Do not use aluminum foil to line the oven bottom.
