Airtronics VG6DR 72 MHz FM Transmitter – 2.4 GHz Conversion

Transmitter can be switched between 72 MHz and 2.4 GHz with switch located in battery area.

Used hot glue to mount the 2.4 GHz transmitter board over the right hand gimbal area.

The 72 MHz/2.4 GHz switch located in battery area positioned so that battery does not accidently change the switch position. Down for 72 MHz and Up for 2.4 GHz. I put the 2.4 GHz bind button and LED in a position that is easy to access for me but cannot be pushed accidently.

The new antenna can be swiveled out of the way easily to extend the 72 MHz antenna. The switch is used is a miniature DPDT switch with the + voltage and PPM signal connected to the center pins of the switch and the original transmitter on one side and the 2.

on the other side of the switch. By switching the power and PPM between the two transmitters I can disable and enable either transmitter. I like using my old Airtronics Vanguard transmitter so I wanted to convert it to 2.4 GHz but I still wanted to use it on 72 MHz as well. This mod kit made this possible. I am using this mod without telemetry, only one direction.
