Attaching the Hood When attached, lens hoods reduce glare and protect the front lens element. Use the hood cap in place of the front lens cap to cap the lens with the hood in place. Warning If you attach the hood too tightly after attaching a filter to the lens, the filter may remain stuck to the hood when the hood is removed. Do not attempt to forcibly separate the hood and filter, as the filter threads could injure your hands.
Aperture ring Rotate the lens aperture ring to choose the aperture (f-number). ): Set aperture to the value chosen with the AC( camera command dial. BA( ): Set aperture to the value chosen automatically by the camera. C Other values ( ): Set aperture to the selected value.
