Power-on password
The Power on password prevents unauthorised access to your notebook. With the Power on
password you can prevent booting of the operating system. The system can be accessed only by
those who know the Power-on password.

Passwords can be up to seven characters long. All alphanumerical characters can be
used; no differentiation is made between upper-case and lower-case.
Passwords are not displayed as they are entered.
If you have forgotten a password, contact your system administrator or contact our
customer service centre.
Setting and changing a password
If you would like to set or change a password, then proceed as follows:
Ê Mark the Setup Password field or Power-on Password field with the cursor keys and.
Ê If the current setting is None, then press the cursor key once, otherwise twice.
The window for password entry appears:
Ê Enter the password.

For security reasons, your entry does not appear on the screen.
Ê Complete your entry with the Enter key Ú.
The window for password confirmation appears:
Ê Enter the password again and complete your entry with the
Enter key Ú.
The system sets the corresponding password field to Present.
Ê Press the [Esc] key to return to the start window BIOS Utility.
Ê Press [Esc] again.
The following dialogue box appears:
Ê Mark Yes and press the Enter key Ú to
save the password and exit the BIOS Setup.
