Removing and installing the opt
ical drive
If you are asked by the Hotline/Help Desk to remove and install the optical
drive yo urself, proceed as follows:
Removing the optical drive
► Switch off your notebook and disconnect the power plug from the mains socket.
► Close the LCD screen.
► Disconnect all cables connected to the noteb ook.
► Turn your notebook over and place it on a flat surface.
► Remove the battery (see C hapter "
Removing the battery", Page 15).

► Remove the screw (1).
► Press a metal pin or wire (e.g. paperclip)
firmly into the opening (2).

The drive tray will be ejected. You can now
pull out the drive tray co mpletely.
► Hold the drive tray firmly on both sides in the centre, and carefully pull
the op tical drive out of the notebook.
► Push in the drive tray until you feel it lock in to place.
Installing the optical drive

► Slide the drive into the notebook in the
direction of the arrow (1).
► Tighten the screw (2).
► Reinst all the battery (see "
Inserting the battery", Pa ge 15).
► Turn the notebook the right way up and place it on a flat surface.
► Reconnect the cables that you disconnected previously.
