Connecting external devices to the serial port

If you wish to operate devices via a serial port, then use the Port Replicator
which is available as an option for your notebook.
External devices (e.g. a printer or mode m) can b e connected to the serial port.
► Connect the data cable to the external device.
► Connect the appropriate data cable for the d evice to the serial port.


port, please see the external device documentation.
Port settings

You can change the port settings (e.g. address, i nterrupt ) in the BIOS Setup.
Device drivers

Devices connected to the serial port require drivers. Your operating system
already includes many drivers. If the required driver is missing then it will be
necessary to install it. Up-to-date drivers are usua lly available o n the Internet
or will be sup plied with the device on a data carrier.
