Securityfunctions

You r notebook has several security features that you can use to secure your

system from unauthorized access.

This chapter explains how to use each function, an d what the beneﬁts are.

Please remember that in some cases, for example, forgetting your password,

you may be locked out and unable to access your data. Therefore,

please note the following information:

• Make regular backups to external data carriers such as external hard

drives, CDs, DVDs or Blu-ray Discs.

If you forge t your passwords you will need to contact the our Service

Desk. Deletion or resetting of passwords is not co vered by your warranty

and a charge will be ma de for assistance.

Conﬁguring the ﬁngerprint sensor

Whether or not your device has a ﬁngerprint s ensor depends on the

device conﬁguration you have ordered.

The ﬁngerprint sensor can record an image of a ﬁngerprint. With additional ﬁngerprint

software, this image c an be processed and used instead of a password.

in order to be able to use the

ﬁngerprint sensor (1).

To install OmniPass on your system y ou must run the Bonus Apps tool as detailed

in the Starting section of this manua l. Once Bonus Apps have been installed, you

may be p rompted to restart you system. Once your system has rebo oted you will be

able to use OmniPass. If you choose not to restart immediately after installation,

OmniPass will n ot be available for use until the next reboot.
