Working with the notebook
Setting up W LAN access
Requirement: A WLAN must be available and you must have the
corresponding access information.
Information on conguring the WLAN access can be found in the
documentation for your opera ting syste m.
Access via UMTS
If you ordered an integrated UMTS module w ith your system, you can enjoy op timum
reception and maximum energy efciency without awkward cables or antennas. The
optional UMTS module is r eady for use straight away.
If you did not order a UMTS m odu le, you can purchase the accessories for UMTS reception
from your retailer or your F ujitsu Te chno logy Solutions dealer.
You w ill nd information on establish ing the connection with the UMTS network
in the documen tation for the hardware used.
You can connect your device with the Internet via UMTS. To do this, use one
of the following types of con nect ion:
a USB dongle (a U SB stick with your mobile phone provider’s SIM card)
UMTS ExpressCard (for inserting in th e ExpressCard slot of your device)
mobile end-device (e.g. mobile phone with Blueto oth or cable connection)
Ethernet and LAN
EthernetLAN
The internal network module of your notebook supports Ethernet LAN. Yo u can use it to
establish a c onnection to a local network (LAN = Local Area Network).

Connect the network cable to the LAN
port of the notebook (1).
Connect the network cable to your
network connection (2).
Your net work administrator can help you to congure and use the LAN connections.
The network cable is not inclu ded in the delivery s cope. This type of
cable can be obtained from a specialist dea ler.
