Changing the supervisor or user password
You can only change the supervisor password when you have logged into the
BIOS Se tup Utility with the supervisor passw ord.

► Call the BIOS Setup U tility and go to the Security menu.
► When changing the password, proceed exa ctly as for p assword assignm ent.
Removing passwords
To remove a password (without setting a ne w password) perform the f ollowing steps:

► Start the BIOS Setup Utility and go to the Security menu.
► Highlight the Set Supervisor Password or Set User Password field and press the Enter key.
You will be requeste d to enter the current password by t he Enter Current Password prompt.
Yo u will be requested to enter a new password by the Enter New Password prompt.
► Press the Enter key twice.
► In the Exit menu, select the option Save Changes & Exit.
► Select Yes and press the Enter key.
The not ebook will now reboot with the password removed.
Removing the s upervisor password simultaneously de activates the user password.

With the supervisor password y ou have set in the BIOS Setup Utility (see
section "
Setting s upervisor and user passwo rd", Page 78), you can also
prevent booting of the operating system.

► Select the desired op tion (Disabled, Fir
st Boot or Every Boot) and press t he Enter key
► Select the Save Changes & Exit option under Exit.
The n otebook will reboot. You will be promp
ted to enter your password (the s upervisor password).
Deactivating system protection
► Start the BIOS Setup Utility and go to the
Security menu.

► Select the PasswordonBootoption and press the En ter key.
► Select the Disabled option and press the En
ter key.
If you do not want to change any other settings, you can exit BIOS Setup Utility.
► Select the Save Changes & Exit option under E
xit.
The noteboo k will reboot. The system is no longer password-protected.
