Trusted Platform Module (TPM)
TPMTrustedPlatform Module
The following description applies only to the LI FEBO OK T 730.
To use the TPM, you must activate the TPM in the BIOS Setup before the software
is installed. The condition for this is that you have assigned at least the supervisor
password (see "
Securit y func tions", Page 77).
Options for using the TPM
You c an use the TPM in different ways:

Logon+ SmartCase

Logon+ offers additional help with managing and
using the numerous passwords required to work with the computer.

Microsoft® BitLoc

drive. Here , BitL
ocker uses the TP M for the storage of the recovery
data which are use
d for decryption of the partition.
It is also possib
le to use BitLocker without TPM and only to use
the USB do ngle f
or storing the crypto key. This option is mainly of
interest if Vis
ta is installed on a computer on which T P M is not
installed or an
older version (before Version 1.2) is installed.
For B itLocker
to w ork, you must have set up at least two pa rtitions
on your hard dr
ive. The first partition contains the boot information.
The second, l
arger partition is encrypted and contains the operating
system as wel
l as the user data.
