Troubleshooting and tips
Using the reset key
If the device is no longer responding and no longer responds to th e on/off
switch, use the reset key to switch the device off.
Disconnect the device from the mains adapter.
Push a pen or a piece of wire (such as a paperclip) rmly into the opening of
the reset key to switch the system off.
Connect the mains adapter to the device again.
Switch the device on again.

To perform the following steps, you must connect an external optical
drive (available as an option) to the device.
You can use the "W ind
ows Recovery C D" (optionally available) and the "Drivers & Utilities
CD/DVD" to reinsta
ll the operating system.
The instructions a
re p rovided on the c ase of the Recovery CD.
During the reinst
all process your personal les and any installed programs
will be deleted.
We advise yo u to ba ckup your les to an external hard
drive, or CD / D V
D disk before you start.
Switch the notebook on.
The following display briey appears on the screen during start-up:
<ESC>Diagnostic screen <F12>Boot Menu <F2>BIOS Setup
When this message a ppears, press the function key
F12
.
Insert the "Windows Recovery CD" into the optical drive.
Select CD-ROM and press the Enter key.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
After the installation you must install all the drivers again. Some installed hardware
components will not be correctly supported until this has been done.
Insert the "Drivers & Utilities" CD/DVD into the optical drive. The CD starts automatically.
Click on the Desk Update button.
Select Auto ma tic driver installation (Express) and click on Start installatio n.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
Restart your notebook when the driver installation is c ompleted.
