TX100 S3 Operating Manual 15
Functional overview
Further information on other SAS/SATA RAID controllers (e.g. for
operating external SAS/SATA hard disk drives or tape drives) is available
on ServerView Suite DVD 2 under Industry Standard Servers - Expansion
Cards - Storage Adapters - LSI RAID / SCSI Controllers.
Accessible drives
The first (top) bay contains the server's DVD drive.
The 5.25-inch bay below is available for one additional accessible drive
(CD/DVD drives or a magnetic tape drive).
As an option for the top bay, a slimline DVD / backup drive cage is available.
The accessible drives cannot be replaced during operation.
Power supply
The server has a permanently installed power supply unit that adjusts
automatically to any mains voltage in the range 100 V - 240 V. There are two
different types:
a power supply unit with up to 85% efficiency
a power supply unit with up to 94% energy efficiency and 0-Watt functionality
0-Watt support
The PRIMERGY TX100 S3 server comes with a 0-Watt feature. Contrary to
conventional servers, which draw a trickle of residual power even when they are
fully switched off, the PRIMERGY TX100 S3 draws 0.0 Watt when it is turned
off. This reduces power consumption and heat output from the system cooling,
and additionally protects the system from external hack attacks overnight and
at weekends.
To allow remote management, the system can be scheduled to wake up in a
preconfigured time frame to perform maintenance and updates.
