Installing/removing the Sma
rtCard reader and/or
WLAN module (optional, 3½-Zoll)
You can also install a Smar
tCard reader and/or a WLAN module for wireless LAN (Local Area
Network) or a memory card
reader in the drive bays for inch drives (see "
Removing and
installing the memory ca
rd reader (optional, inch, Multi Card)", Page 46).
The SmartCard reader an
d WLAN module can be installed together in one
module holder ( optiona
l). If you have ordered a device with a W LAN module
and SmartCard reader,
the module holder, SmartCard read er and WLAN
module w ill already b
e installed at the time of delive ry.
However, you can onl
y install one of the two boards. The WLAN module is installed
in the lower slot of t
he carrier and the SmartCard reader in the upper slot of t he
carrier. If you wan
t to install the S martCard reader and the WLAN module together,
rst install the WL
AN module. Removal is performed in the reverse order.
If you have ordere
d a device without a W LAN module or SmartCard re ader,
a blind cover is in
stalled inst ead of the module holder.

The following
chapter illustrates the standard version and not the power version. However,
the procedure
in the following chapters is the same for both versions.
Operation o
f the module is not permitted in Taiwan.
You can for instance install a SmartCard or MultiCard reader in the 3½" drive bay. The
reader is mounted onto a m o dule holder when installed in the casing.
SmartCard or MultiCard readers can be mounted on a module holder (optional).
If you have ordered a device with a SmartCard o r MultiCard reader, the module
holder, SmartCard or MultiCard reader are already built in on delivery.
If you have ordered a device without a SmartCard or MultiCard reader, a
blind cover is installed instead of the module holder.
