Security functions
Smart Card reader (configuration-dependent)
Your device may be fi tted with a Smart Card read er d epending o n your chosen model
(only available in models with screw h oles and Smart Card reader).

Smart Ca rds are not supplied as s tandard equipment. You can use all Smart Cards that comply with
the ISO standard 7816-1, -2 or -3. These Smart Car ds are available from various manufacturers.
With the appropriate software you can use your Smart C ard as an a lternative to password
protection, but also as a digital signature, fo r encrypting your e-mails or for home banking.
We recommend that you always use two Smart Cards. Always keep one of the Smart Cards
in a safe place if you are carrying the other Smart Card with you.
Inserting the Smart Card
Your device may be fitted with a Smart Card reader, depending on your chosen
model (only available in models with scre w holes and Smart Card reader).
Do not u se force when inserting and removing the Smart Card.
Make sure that foreign objects do not fall into the Smart Card reader.

► Slide the Smart Card into the Smart Card reader (1) with the chip facing the front of the Tablet PC.
