NOTE
The SpO
2
measurement accuracy is determined based on the values of the
root-mean-square (rms) difference between SpO
2
readings of the pulse
oximeter equipment and values of SaO
2
determined with a CO-oximeter, by
healthy adult volunteers. The pulse oximeter equipment measurements are
statistically distributed; ±2% measurement accuracy means that only about
two-thirds of pulse oximeter equipment measurements can be expected to
fall within ±2% of the value measured by a CO-oximeter.
