Important Information
• Gates are precut to fit a 37
1
/
2
" wide opening, but
can be trimmed for smaller applications. Be sure to check
with local building code officials for any dimension requirements.
• Gate kits should only be used for applications that are no more than
30" above ground.
• All sleeves are to be placed over 4X4 posts (not included).
Gate Kit Installation
Insert spindles into precut holes on bottom rail.
Place top rail on spindles. This is best done by holding the rail at a slight upward angle
and inserting spindles one at a time into precut holes (Figure 1).
With spindles in the top and bottom rails, slide rail ends into the precut holes of one of
the 4" x 4" sleeves. This is best done by laying sleeve on its side with the precut holes
facing up and placing rail ends into holes while applying pressure on the rails.
With the rail ends pointed up, slide the second 4" x 4" sleeve into place and stand gate
assembly upright with spindles vertical.
Make sure all rail ends are flat against the inside wall of the 4" x 4" sleeves. Before
proceeding to the next step, you may want to use some strap clamps to keep the gate
assembly together.
Secure the top and bottom rails in place by inserting one of the provided #10 x 1

"
Phillips Pan Head screws into the rail on the inside of the sleeve, directly beside the precut
hole in the sleeve. This is best done by drilling a

/

" pilot hole
3
/
16
" from the edge of the
sleeve in the center of the rail (Figure 2). Do this on both sides of the top and bottom rail.
Place the gate assembly on the ground and square it using a carpenter square or some
other method.
Mark the pre-drill holes at the locations indicated in Figure 3 using
1
/
8
" drill bit. Make
sure to drill through both the sleeve wall and the top rail wall (Figure 3).
Use the provided #10 Phillips Pan Head screws and thread into the holes drilled previously.
Turn the assembly over and repeat steps 9 & 10. A total of 8 screws should be used for
steps 9-11. This helps prevent the gate from sagging after it is mounted.
Measure and attach the gate hinge and latch at desired location using the provided #14
x
3
/
4
" Phillips Pan Head screws (making sure to pre-drill first using an
1
/
8
" drill bit). Note:
The gate hinges and latch must be secured and attached to the adjacent post sleeve
with structural wood support inside.
Attach taper caps with PVC glue.
Note: The gate may need leveled periodically due to
changes in temperatures. This can be done by adjusting the hinges.
