Getting Started The Gabor SCP-770 installs onto a suspended ceiling grid with tiles measuring 24 × 24 or 24 × 48 inches. Make sure the ceiling grid's rails measure a minimum height of 1.5 inches (38 mm). Important: You must have a 1.5 NPT compatible mount attached to your projector. 1. Measure the width at the top of your projector's screen, and locate the center. Make a mark on the tile above the center point. 2. Find your projector’s throw distance (check your projector’s manual).
Plate Installation 1. Remove the marked ceiling tile and adjacent tiles needed to access the ceiling grid rails. 2. Identify ceiling structure supports (wood, concrete, or steel truss) above the tile. You will need these for Support Cable Attachment in the following section. 3. Press the ceiling tile cutter into the finished side of the tile marked for the column. Twist it back and forth to cut a hole for the included flush column.
6. Use the M5 hex screws to secure each side of the plate to the ceiling grid rails. Optional screw holes Support Cable Attachment Warning! The cable supports should entirely support the plate and attached equipment. Make sure the cable tension is equal for all four cables, but do not overtighten so they bend or twist the suspended ceiling grid.
Wood Cable support anchors must be installed into wood with a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches (38 mm). 1. Use a 5/32-inch wood drill bit to make four holes 2-inches deep, and then clean out the debris. 2. Thread a screw eye into each support hole. 3. Insert the eyelet end of the support cable through the eyelet of the screw. 4. Run the loose end of the cable through its eyelet, and pull to tighten around the screw eye. Repeat for the remaining cables.
3. Run the anchor screws through the eyelets of the support cables and screw them into the concrete anchors until secure. Steel Truss Loop the cable around the steel truss beam. Run the loose end of the cable through its eyelet, and pull to tighten. Repeat for the remaining cables.
Cable Locks 1. Run the loose end of a cable into the cable lock, following the arrows as shown. 2. Insert the loose end through a hole in the plate’s frame. 3. Run the end back through the other side of the cable lock, following the arrow. Tighten for desired tension. 4. Repeat for the remaining cables.
5. To loosen the cable tension, press down on the push release.
Flush Column Applications 1. Thread the included flush column down through the column support with the stopper side up. 2. Use the M5 Hex screw to secure the flush column. Stopper 3. Snap the escutcheon plate around the column, so it’s flush with the ceiling tile.
Extension Column Applications 1. Thread the extension column (not included) from the bottom, up through the ceiling tile to the column support. 2. Use the M5 hex screw and hex key to secure the extention column. If your column has a notch, align it with the M5 hex screw. 3. Snap the escutcheon plate around the extension column, so it’s flush with the ceiling tile.
