CHARACTERS CHARACTERS Those living desperately, lost in the cracks of history. SaGa Frontier™ 2 is comprised of stories surrounding Gustave’s family and friends, as well as the rival aristocrats and royal families. The main characters of these historical events will be introduced in the following section (from the perspective of Gustave XIII). GUSTAVE XII (FATHER) As the King of Finney, Gustave XII is a distinguished political figure and an elite soldier.
8 STORY PROGRESSION STORY PROGRESSION 9 The unique Multi-Scenario System of SaGa Frontier 2 allows events to be selected freely, creating a unique flow of history (the general flow of events can be seen below). Additionally, main characters will change depending on the events that have been selected. As a result, the player will be able to get a behind-the-scenes look and experience history from a perspective that differs from that of the main character, Gustave.
10 THE MENU SCREEN THE MENU SCREEN Pressing the ç button while the character is moving brings up the Menu Screen. There are nine headings in the Menu Screen. To select a heading, move the cursor to the desired heading and press the ≈ button. Please refer to each page for specific instructions about each heading. 1. This command switches allies or Party order so that battles involving the entire Party can be used in the most advantageous manner possible. From the Menu Screen, select . 14 THE MENU SCREEN Custom Arts – See the Duel Combo History. The Custom Arts Window displays the previously used Weapon Arts and Spell Arts of a character’s Combo Attack or the previously used Weapon Art that was created in “Duel.” Similar to the Equipped Arts and Combos Windows, it is possible for the player to move the line in the Custom Arts Window to separate the two zones.
BATTLE SYSTEM THE MENU SCREEN 16 - Auto – If is selected, the items will be arranged automatically. The order in which they will be placed is the order of the icons that are displayed when the mode has been selected. BATTLE SYSTEM - Manual – If is selected, items can be arranged manually. From the icons that are displayed in the Select Window, select and determine the items to be placed at the front. There are two types of battles: “Party” and “Duel.
18 BATTLE SYSTEM BATTLE SYSTEM Battle Command NEGOTIATION When is selected, the screen shown on the right will appear. On this screen, press the directional button to the LEFT/RIGHT to select a weapon to be used. To select a Weapon Art or a Spell Art, press the directional button UP/DOWN. Press the ≈ button to confirm all selections. Next, move the cursor to select the action to be targeted at enemies and Party members. Press the ≈ button to execute the command.
20 BATTLE SYSTEM Point 3 – Develop new and powerful Arts During battle, the player will be able to create new Arts (see page 23). By continuously using weapons and casting spells (see page 22), characters will create more powerful Spell Arts. In order to acquire highly effective Arts, characters should attack using the Arts they already possess.
22 BATTLE SYSTEM During battle, weapons and armor are useful items that cause damage to enemies and reduce damage received from enemy attacks. Weapons especially have a special use in this world as “Tools” (see page 24). Here, the characteristics of weapons and armor are introduced. WEAPONS – Perform physical attacks and cast spells. Weapons are categorized into five types: swords, axes, staffs, spears, and bows.
24 BATTLE SYSTEM BATTLE SYSTEM 25 Martial Arts – The basic attack of Martial Arts is the “Punch.” Martial Arts uses hitting and throwing to inflict damage. Some think that using Martial Arts is barbaric, and thus prefer not to fight using this method. Water Arts – Uses the Anima that exists in water. Water Arts embody the following: clouds, ice, healing, and time. The Pit Spider is an example of a Tool that uses Water Arts. Sword Arts – The basic attack of a sword is “Slash.
