Introduction WARNING See the Important Safety and Product Information guide in the product box for product warnings and other important information. Always consult your physician before you begin or modify any exercise program. 1 Select a secure location to mount the device where it does not interfere with the safe operation of your bike. 2 Place the rubber disk À on the back of the bike mount. The rubber tabs align with the back of the bike mount so it stays in place.
• From the home screen, select . • During a ride, select > Status Page. 8 Press down slightly and turn the Edge device clockwise until it locks into place. Releasing the Edge 1 Turn the Edge clockwise to unlock the device. 2 Lift the Edge off the mount. Turning On the Device The first time you turn on the device, you are prompted to configure system settings and profiles. 1 Hold . 2 Follow the on-screen instructions.

Segments Following a segment: You can send segments from your Garmin Connect account to your device. After a segment is saved to your device, you can follow the segment. NOTE: When you download a course from your Garmin Connect account, all segments in the course are downloaded automatically.
After you begin a workout, the device displays each step of the workout, the target (if any), and current workout data. 3 Select Duration, enter a distance or time interval value for Stopping a Workout 4 5 6 • At any time, select to end a workout step. • At any time, select to view the workout steps screen, and select > Stop Workout > OK to end the workout. • At any time, select > Stop Workout to stop the timer and end the workout. TIP: When you save your ride, your workout ends automatically.

Setting Target Power 1 Select Menu > Training > Indoor Trainer > Set Target Power. 2 Set the target power value. 3 Select an activity profile. 4 Start pedaling. The resistance force applied by the trainer is adjusted to maintain a constant power output based on your speed.

ANT+ Sensors Your device can be used with wireless ANT+ sensors.
Superior Excellent Green Good Tips for Erratic Heart Rate Data Orange Fair Red Poor If the heart rate data is erratic or does not appear, you can try these tips. • Reapply water to the electrodes and contact patches (if applicable). • Tighten the strap on your chest. • Warm up for 5 to 10 minutes. • Follow the care instructions (Caring for the Heart Rate Monitor, page 15). • Wear a cotton shirt or thoroughly wet both sides of the strap.
Setting Your Power Zones 4 Rotate the crank arm to check for clearance. The sensor and bands should not contact any part of your bike or shoe. NOTE: The LED flashes green for five seconds to indicate activity after two revolutions. 5 Take a 15 minute test ride and inspect the sensor and bands to ensure there is no evidence of damage. About the Speed and Cadence Sensors Cadence data from the cadence sensor is always recorded.
3 If necessary, select > Data Fields to change a data field (Customizing the Data Screens, page 13). NOTE: The two data fields at the bottom of the screen à can be customized. You can send the ride to your Garmin Connect account to view additional cycling dynamics data (Sending Your Ride to Garmin Connect, page 11). Power Phase Data Power phase is the pedal stroke region (between the start crank angle and the end crank angle) where you produce positive power.
1 2 3 4 Select Menu > History > Rides. Select a ride. Select Time in Zone. Select an option. NOTE: Some data requires an optional accessory such as a heart rate monitor. Deleting Rides 1 Select Menu > History > Rides > Delete. 2 Select one or more rides to delete. 3 Select Delete Rides > OK. Viewing Data Totals You can view the accumulated data you have saved to the device, including the number of rides, time, distance, and calories. 1 Select Menu > History > Totals.
Transferring Files to Another Edge Device Deleting Files You can transfer courses, segments, and workouts wirelessly from one compatible Edge device to another using Bluetooth technology. 1 Turn on both Edge devices, and bring them within range (3 m) of each other. From the device that contains the files, select Menu > 2 Settings > Device Transfers > Share Files. 3 Select a file type to share. 4 Select one or more files to transfer.
Updating Your Activity Profile You can customize ten activity profiles. You can customize your settings and data fields for a particular activity or trip. 1 Select Menu > Settings > Activity Profiles. 2 Select an option: • Select a profile. • Select Create New to add a new profile. 3 If necessary, edit the name and color for the profile. 4 Select an option: • Select Data Screens to customize the data screens and data fields (Customizing the Data Screens, page 13).
