TheVerticalDeviationIndicator(VDI;Figure2-15)usesamagentachevrontoindicatethebaro-VNVvertical
deviationwhenVerticalNavigation(VNV)isbeingused;theVDIappearsinconjunctionwiththe“TODwithin
1minute”alert.Full-scaledeection(twodots)is1000feet.TheVDIisremovedfromthedisplayifvertical
deviationbecomesinvalid.SeetheFlightManagementandAFCSsectionsfordetailsonVNVfeatures,andrefer
toSection2.2,SupplementalFlightData,formoreinformationaboutVNVindicationsonthePFD.
The Glideslope Indicator(Figure2-16)appears totheleftofthe Altimeterwheneveran ILSfrequencyis
tunedintheactiveNAVeld.AgreendiamondactsastheGlideslopeIndicator,likeaglideslopeneedleon
aconventionalindicator.Ifalocalizerfrequencyistunedandthereisnoglideslope,“NOGS”isdisplayedin
place of the diamond.
TheglidepathisanalogoustotheglideslopeforGPSapproachessupportingSBASverticalguidance(LNAV+V,
L/VNV,LPV).WhenanapproachofthistypeisloadedintotheightplanandGPSistheselectednavigation
source, the GlidepathIndicator (Figure2-17) appears as a magenta diamond during the approach. If the
approachtypedowngradespastthenalapproachx(FAF),“NOGP”isdisplayedinplaceofthediamond.
