Maintenance
•Verifythatallcordsandconnectorsaresecurelyseated.
•Inspectkeysandcontrolsforproperoperation:
•Togglekeysshouldnotstickinoneposition.
•Knobsshouldrotatefullyinbothdirections.
CleaningandDisinfectingExteriorSurfaces
Cleananddisinfecttheexteriorsurfacesofallequipmentandperipheraldevices
monthly,ormorefrequentlyifneeded.
CleaningandDisinfectingtheSurfaces
Propercleaninganddisinfectingprolongsthelifeoftheproduct.Failuretousethe
propercleaningsolutionsortofollowproperprocedurescanresultinthefollowing:
•Damageorcorrosion
•Productdiscoloration
•Metalpartcorrosion
•Unitmalfunction
•Voidedwarranty
Usethefollowingproceduretocleantheequipment'sexteriorsurfaces.Besureto
observeallcautionswhencleaningthedevice.
1.Toclean,wipewithalightlymoistenedcloth.
Useamildsoapandwatersolutiontomoistenthecloth.
DoNOTuseanyofthefollowingcleaningproducts,orproductsthatcontainthe
sameactiveingredientsandsolutions,whichareknowntocausetheproblems
previouslylisted:
•Sani-Cloth®Wipes
•Ascepti®Wipes
•HBQuat®
•Clorox®Wipes(theydonotcontainbleach)
•Over-the-counterdetergents(suchasFantastic®,Tilex®,andsoon)
2.Todisinfect,wipewithasoft,lint-freeclothmoistenedwithanappropriate
disinfectant.
Usethefollowingsolutions,asrecommendedintheAPICGuidelinesforSelection
andUseofDisinfectants(1996):
•Sodiumhypochlorite(5.2%householdbleach)minimum1:500dilution
(minimum100ppmfreechlorine)andmaximum1:10dilution.
•Anysodiumhypochloritewipeproductthatmeetsthepreviousguidelines
canbeused.
3.Drywithacleanclothorpapertowel.
