GUIDE FORM SPECIFICATIONS
CRITERION ™ WALLPACK LUMINAIRE
The totally enclosed, weather-resistant luminaire desig-
nated___ (identify) shall be a GE CRITERION
TM
_________(specify
Cuto or Forward Throw) WALLPACK luminaire, ordering num-
ber_______________ (specify CCDX, CCSX, CCMX, CTDX, CTSX, or
CTMX, plus ordering number logic from catalog) or approved equal,
to operate one ____(specify 250, 400) watt high pressure sodium
or ______ (specify 175, 250, 400) watt metal halide mogul base or
one ______ (specify 50, 70, 100, 150) watt high pressure sodium or
_______ (specify 50, 70, 100, 150, 175) watt metal halide medium
base lamp from a nominal _____(specify 120, 208,240, 277, or 480)
volt, 60 hertz power source. The luminaire shall include an integral
prewired SnapDrive
TM
ballast assembly or prewired DirectMount
ballast assembly (for the smallest size wall pack) and optical
assembly that shall produce a ___________ (specify adjustable
forward throw or cut-o) distribution. The luminaire shall have UL/
cUL listing SUITABLE FOR WET LOCATIONS. The standard housing
construction shall be IP65. Ballast, housing, optical, and luminaire
assembly shall all be built to GE Lighting Systems specications.
The luminaire shall include a die-cast aluminum housing with a
polyester powder paint nish, glass lens, and continuous silicone
gasket with no gaps to insure sealing. The luminaire shall have
tool-less entry or optional tamper-resistant entry to prevent unau-
thorized entry. Tamper resistant entry is standard on the 70W Di-
rectMount luminaire (required because of its low mounting height).
The housing shall be equipped with standard pre-punched keyhole
slots for ease of mounting. Door removal shall be accomplished
by a sliding notch hinge for quick and simple removal except for
the 70 and lower wattage DirectMount luminaires. All hardware
shall be corrosion-resistant. ½” NPT plugged conduit entrances
for through feed shall be optional except for the 70 and lower
wattage DirectMount luminaire. The luminaire shall have provision
for optional factory installed photoelectric control. The luminaire
design shall be tested and certied to withstand 2 G 300,000 cycle
rst harmonic 3 axis (100K cycles in each major axis) shake test fol-
lowed by a 4G 10,000 cycle shake test without any major failures.
Ballast, ignitor, capacitor, and printed circuit board wiring shall
be installed onto a modular SnapDrive
TM
Electrical System that
snaps in and out of the luminaire without tools except for the 70
and lower wattage DirectMount which has ballast components
mounted to the luminaire housing. Voltage changes, wattage
changes (250 and 400 watt only), and the addition of optional
EZAdd
TM
quartz switching device (400 watt only) shall be ac-
complished with the use of quick-change jumpers that shall be
located on the ballast printed circuit board except for the 70W
Direct Mount luminaire. SnapDrive
TM
Electrical Systems shall be
interchangeable into other luminaires in the Criterion
TM
family of
the same wattage size. The luminaire shall contain a standard
Auto-regulator (CWA) or Lag ballast for use with metal halide, or
high-pressure sodium lamps. Optional factory installed fusing shall
be available for all discrete voltages and wattages. The ballast
shall be compliant with NEMA specications and lamp manufactur-
ers specications at the time of manufacture. The ballast shall reli-
ably start and operate the lamp in ambient temperatures down to
–20 degrees F for metal halide and –40 degrees F for high-pressure
sodium. Pulse start metal halide ballasts shall be available from
35-400-watts. Each SnapDrive
TM
Electrical System shall have a
receptacle that is compatible with the GE Diagnostic Tester that will
enable electrical testing and trouble shooting.
The optical assembly shall have a precision hydroformed
aluminum reector that has a chemically bonded lightweight non-
breakable ALGLAS
®
nish on all surfaces for precise light control in
combination with heat and impact resistant tempered at lens.
The forward throw reector shall be adjustable for accurately
tune the light placement and the lamp will be shielded to minimize
glare. The cuto reector shall be designed and constructed to
conform to stringent dark-sky standards and to please the neigh-
bors. The luminaire shall be supported by a dedicated web site
that will contain down-loadable IES photometric les.
