Sizing a Geberit cable drain is simple. Start
with acquiring the Tub Depth (see Figure 1),
whichservesasaroughguideforyournal
selection.Whiletheactualdenitionof“tub
depth”variesbymanufacturerandmodel,
the measurement is used to get a rough idea
ofthecablelengthyouwillneed.Usethe
Standard Rough-In Unit Cable Lengths chart
(below,right)todeterminecablelengthbased
on your tub depth.
To assure your rough calculations are correct
andyourBWOwillfunctionproperly,however,
please follow these steps (refer to Figure 1).
1.DeterminetheOverow Depth(A)which
isthedistancefromtheoverowcenterto
drain mounting surface.
2. Determine the Drain Shoe Length(B)which
is the distance from the drain centerline to
theoverowmountingsurface.
3.Choosematerial and joint connection
type. Because material selection and joint
preparationsselectionarecoveredbylocal
codes, be sure a professional contractor
isinvolved.Geberitoersacomplete
spectrumofBWOmaterialstoassurecode
compliance(seepage25).Thematerials
oeredareTubularPolypropylene,Tubular
Brass,ABSandPVC.
4. To determine the nal sizeofyourBWOfor
Tubular Slip-JointPlastic/Brasscabledrain,
use Figure 2onpage27.Todeterminethe
nalsizeofyourBWOforgluedABS/PVC
cable drain, use Figure 3onpage27.
5.Yourinformationcannowbeusedtondthe
part numberoneachtypeofGeberitBWO.
Onceyouhavedeterminedthesizeandpart
number,youcanalsogivethisinformationto
yoursalesoutletsotheycanverifyyouhave
the right Geberit model for your needs.
