Is the firewall on my router different than the firewall I have
running on my computer?
Yes. I f you have firewall software running on your com put er, it is different t han the
firewall on your rout er.
The set tings on t he firewall software on your com put er apply only t o your com puter.
The firewall set t ings for the rout er apply to your entire net work.
Also, if you have had t o configure your firewall soft ware on your com puter t o opening
specific ports for I nternet based gam es or applicat ions, VPN clients, VoI P services, et c.,
they m ay also need to be opened on your router. See the docum ent at ion for the
applicat ion or service t o det erm ine if you need to set any
