Controls and Symbols

See Figure 3-1. The throttle control lever and choke con-

trol uses icons to represent settings. Be familiar with icon

meanings prior to unit operation.

Starting Engine

IMPORTANT NOTE: Oil must be added before start-

ing the engine for the first time. Units are shipped

without oil. Do not overfill.

NOTE: The operator presence lever must be held down

for the engine to start and continue running. If the

machine needs to be stopped quickly for any reason,

release the operator presence lever.

Manual Starting

1. See Figure 3-2. Verify the fuel shut-off (A) is in the

open position.

2. Move the choke control lever (B) to the CLOSED

position. If the engine is warm leave the choke con-

trol lever in the OPEN position.

3. See Figure 3-3. While holding down operator pres-

ence lever (C), slowly pull the recoil starter handle

until resistance is felt. Let the cord retract slightly

and then pull the cord rapidly to start the engine.
