Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Replacing Clutch
1. Remove belt guard and belt. See Replacing Belt.
2. See Figure 4-9. Place a 5/8" wrench onto clutch
bolt (A). Rotate wrench counterclockwise until
resistance is felt.

3. Hit the wrench sharply with a dead blow hammer to
start the bolt turning on the engine shaft.
4. Remove bolt, flat washer, spacer, clutch and key.
NOTE: Do not remove second spacer on inside of clutch.
5. Apply never seize grease to the engine shaft.
6. Install the new clutch and key.
7. Install the spacer.
8. Install bolt with flat washer and secure with a
5/8” wrench.
Rotating Cutting Teeth
1. Use a suitable lifting device and raise the front end
of the stump grinder off the ground to allow access
to the cutter head.
2. Mark the dull cutting edge prior to rotating the teeth
to help identify unused cutting teeth.
3. See Figure 4-10. Loosen locknut (A) on tooth (B)
until the top of the locknut is flush with the top of
tooth threads (C).

4. See Figure 4-11. Lightly tap on the top of the lock-
nut (D) with a dead-blow hammer until the tooth
drops away from the tooth mount (E).

5. See Figure 4-12. Rotate the tooth to a sharp cut-
ting edge and align the flat area on the side of the
tooth (F) with the flat area of the mount (G).

6. Push the tooth up and into the mount and firmly
tighten the locknut.
7. Repeat steps 2-6 for the remaining teeth as
needed.
