Thisȱisȱtheȱworldwideȱinfrastructureȱprovidingȱtheȱradioȱ
coverageȱthatȱallowsȱyouȱtoȱstayȱconnected.ȱMadeȱupȱofȱradioȱ
towersȱandȱaȱvarietyȱofȱnetworkȱswitches,ȱrouters,ȱandȱservers,ȱ
theȱnetworkȱisȱanȱinterconnectionȱofȱmanyȱserviceȱproviders.
Note: Most service providers
have coverage maps on their
web sites.
ThereȱareȱCDMAȱnetworksȱthatȱoperateȱinȱtheȱfrequencyȱbandsȱ
supportedȱbyȱtheȱAirCardȱthroughoutȱNorthȱAmericaȱandȱ
partsȱofȱLatinȱAmerica,ȱAsia,ȱNewȱZealand,ȱandȱAustralia.ȱ
However,ȱeachȱserviceȱproviderȱoperatesȱaȱnetworkȱthatȱcoversȱ
aȱlimitedȱgeographicalȱareaȱwithinȱtheȱoverallȱCDMAȱcoverageȱ
area.
Note: The fee for service is
usually higher when you are
roaming (connecting to a
network other than the one
belonging to your service
provider).
Mostȱserviceȱprovidersȱhaveȱ“roaming”ȱagreementsȱwithȱotherȱ
serviceȱproviders,ȱsoȱthatȱtheyȱcanȱofferȱserviceȱoutsideȱofȱtheȱ
coverageȱareaȱofȱtheirȱownȱnetworks.ȱForȱexample,ȱassumingȱ
youȱliveȱinȱVancouverȱandȱtravelȱfrequentlyȱtoȱSeattle,ȱyouȱcanȱ
obtainȱanȱaccountȱwithȱaȱVancouverȱserviceȱproviderȱthatȱhasȱa
ȱ
roamingȱagreementȱwithȱaȱserviceȱproviderȱinȱSeattle.ȱYouȱ
wouldȱthenȱhaveȱlocalȱserviceȱinȱVancouver,ȱandȱroamingȱ
serviceȱinȱSeattle.
