Some USB Bluetooth adapters use the same virtual port as the PC-Gentec-EO, but the delay for verifying the connection to the Bluetooth port is longer than the traditional serial port. 3.1.2 CONTROLS menu Fig. 3-5 CONTROLS menu 3.1.2.1 “Turbo Mode” button The Turbo Mode is used for joulemeters to transfer data from the device.
PC-Gentec-EO User’s Manual Revision 5.0 14 “Save statistics to the acquisition file” in the Statistics option tab Changing the duration settings of the acquisition will automatically change the duration settings of the statistics. The acquisition produces an “*.acq” file which can be directly drag-anddropped to an already opened Microsoft Excel sheet or Notepad. A new acquisition will not concatenate the new data with the old one, it will erase old data and save only the new one.
PC-Gentec-EO User’s Manual 3.1.2.3.2 Revision 5.0 15 Set your Acquisition parameters in Energy Mode In Energy Mode, you can use the “Set Acquisition” tab to choose the sample rate and duration of an acquisition. The sample rate is defined to measure 1 pulse every X pulses (for example: 1 measurement every 10 pulses). The total duration is also set in a specified number of pulses.
PC-Gentec-EO User’s Manual 3.1.2.4 Revision 5.0 16 ”Start/Stop Statistics” button This button starts and stops the statistics calculation of the measured values. Install the PC-Gentec-EO on the PC. If necessary, power up the Gentec-EO device Start the PC-Gentec-EO Click on the “Connect” button in the Main Controls ribbon. The software will scan each port on your computer and connect the PC-Gentec-EO to the first port connected to a Gentec-EO device.
PC-Gentec-EO User’s Manual Revision 5.0 19 Wavelength: Enter the desired wavelength. Press Enter or Tab to make the change effective. Range: Use the dropdown menu to select the desired range. The chosen value will be the maximum that the PC-Gentec-EO will measure before displaying “OUT”. By default, the Gentec-EO device is in “Auto” mode. Measure Mode: Use the dropdown menu to set the measurement mode (Power, Single Shot Energy, Moving Average, etc.).
PC-Gentec-EO User’s Manual Revision 5.0 20 Special care must be taken in the case of widely varying pulse energy to ensure that every pulse is detected. Contrary to the case of a power measurement where the auto mode adjusts continuously to the measured value, the auto mode in energy mode bases its range selection on the energy of the previous pulse. A pulse with energy less than 2% of the current scale will not be detected. Always set the scale to the best one available.
PC-Gentec-EO User’s Manual Revision 5.0 21 Uncheck Anticipation to deactivate the power meter acceleration software that provides accelerated response. By using advanced algorithms and known properties of the detector, this software allows the PC-Gentec-EO to provide a very accurate power measurement a few seconds faster than the natural response of a thermopile power detector. It accelerates the natural response by a factor of 5 to 10.
PC-Gentec-EO User’s Manual Revision 5.0 22 Caution! If you select a high value trigger level, the PC-Gentec-EO may not be able to detect all the values of widely varying energy levels in auto range mode. The auto range function uses the energy level of the last pulse to set the scale level. Therefore, it will not detect the next pulses if they are lower than the trigger level. As a result, the auto range may become caught on a high scale value.
PC-Gentec-EO User’s Manual 5 Revision 5.0 23 GRAPHICAL DISPLAYS The PC-Gentec-EO offers six different graphical displays to view and analyze your signal. Every display shows the real time value of the signal on top of the graphic, except the Real Time graph which displays the real time value in large digits in the center of the panel.
